NBC has renewed freshman series Revolution and Chicago Fire, along with Grimm, Parenthood, and veteran Law & Order: SVU. This is the first set of renewals announced by the network, with more announcements to be released in the near future. Many programs in the current line-up remain on the bubble.
The ratings are in for the first two episodes of Nurse Jackie’s fifth season and the numbers look promising.
Showtime has announced that the upcoming eighth season of Dexter will be its last. With a defined end date, the writers will be able to build up to a finale that will hopefully satisfy loyal viewers. The possibility of a spinoff is up in the air, as entertainment president David Nevins states that no plans have been made.
Comedy Central has cancelled the animated series Futurama, created by Matt Groening. The seventh and final season will end its run on September 4th. There is the possibility that the show will continue on a different network, but no definite decisions have been made.

NBC will re-air the first episode of freshman series Hannibal on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. In an attempt to get more viewers the network will make the episode more available to audiences who might have missed the series’ debut.
