Justin Chatwin Will Not Return to Showtime’s Hit Show Shameless

Justin Chatwin, who plays Jimmy, the on and off boyfriend of Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum), will not be returning for the fourth season of Shameless. IFC casts The Spoils of Babylon

IFC’s new comedy The Spoils of Babylon rounds off its casting with Jessica Alba, Val Kilmer, Tobey Maguire, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, Tim Robbins, and Kristen Wigg. They will join Will Ferrell in the epic novel adaptation parody which will premiere in early 2014.

Melissa Leo is set to Co-Star in M. Night Shyamalan’s Wayward Pines

Melissa Leo has been cast in the new event series Wayward Pines, created and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. She will play a nurse in the small town of Wayward Pines and star opposite Matt Dillon, who plays a Secret Service agent. This event series will be a thriller and premiere on Fox in the fall of 2014.

FX Orders Billy Crystal Pilot

FX has ordered a pilot of an adaptation of the Swedish comedy show Ulveson and Herngren. Titled The Comedians, the show would star Billy Crystal as a veteran comic, paired with a young, edgy comedian to write for a sketch comedy program. Along with Crystal, Matt Nix and Larry Charles are set to executive produce and co-write.

FX’s New Drama The Strain Casts its Female Star

The Strain has its two main cast members set now that Mia Maestro has been cast as the female lead opposite Corey Stoll. The new project comes from filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro and it is a based on a trilogy of vampire novels that he wrote. The story centers on a team of scientists investigating a viral outbreak that has hints of an ancient strain of vampirism.

Ang Lee Pulls Out of FX’s Tyrant

The Academy Award winning director Ang Lee, who was honored most recently for his film Life of Pi, has released a statement confirming his departure from the upcoming FX pilot Tyrant. Lee was set to direct the pilot, but his lengthy and demanding experience in the creation and promotion of Life of Pi has rendered the director unable to tackle another project so soon.
