Diane Kruger has made the switch to television with her new series The Bridge. The show focuses on the border between the United States and Mexico and the crime that occurs there. Kruger plays a detective in El Paso who is forced to work with Marco Ruiz, a detective across the border, after a body turns up, and their character relationships are tested just as expected in the world of the border patrol.
Sci-fi regular Summer Glau is set to guest star on the second season of Arrow. Her previous television credits include Joss Whedon’s Firefly as well as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Fans of the genre will certainly be excited about this news.
San Diego’s Comic-Con has announced the television panel and events schedule for its 2013 convention. A vast array of television programs are being represented by various events and panels. Standup comedian Tig Notaro is set to star in a Showtime documentary about her upcoming tour. She is doing a nationwide search in order to find her most loyal fans to host her for shows in their backyards and rooftops and other fun summertime spots. Her second album, “Live,” sold over 100,000 copies in just over six weeks.
Falling Skies, the hit TNT series, has been renewed for a fourth season. The series tells the story of people trying to survive during a catastrophic alien invasion. It is produced by Dreamworks television from executive producer Steven Spielberg.
Showtime’s Sunday dramas are enjoying record ratings. For the eighth season in a row, Dexter raised its season premiere audience with an overall 3.2 million viewers for the night. New drama Ray Donovan enjoyed a boost from its lead in and garnered a 2.2 million for the entire night. The new series topped previous record holder Homeland for the highest rated original program premiere for the network.
Mark Burnett is taking his Bible sequel to NBC. Burnett’s miniseries The Bible, which aired on History in the Spring became a ratings senation, attracting record numbers to the cable channel. NBC is hoping to repeat The Bible’s success with the continuation of the story of Christianity.
Fox has set the dates for each of each returning shows as well as a few newcomers, including a comedy from Andy Samberg. The network is a step ahead of the competition, with their first show premiering on September 11, weeks before the other major networks.
Amy Brenneman has been added to the cast of HBO’s new pilot for The Leftovers. The series is adapted from a Tom Perrotta book that follows the story of different people and how their lives change after the Rapture. This will mark Brenneman’s first television appearance since her role on Private Practice that lasted for six seasons.
