Trailer Round-Up is a collection of the latest movie trailers and teasers, all in one spot. Check them out below.
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping
Written, produced by and starring Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone of The Lonely Island fame, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a mockumentary comedy film that explores the life of fictional pop superstar Conner4Real, whose latest album bombs, which threatens to derail his career.
This second trailer does a better job of introducing some of the stakes of the story, showing Conner's struggle to remain relevant after his album fails. A lot of the jokes are funnier this time around as well - the 30 Second to Mars quip in particular was great. The Lonely Island have made a successful career parodying pop with their music and it remains to be seen if they can translate that success to film, but if this trailer is any indication, they're on the right track.
Directed by Schaffer and Taccone, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is scheduled for release on June 3, 2016.
Ghostbusters
Written and directed by Paul Feig, the new Ghostbusters is a modern re-imagining of the classic franchise with an all-female team, starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as the titular paranormal investigators.
Two new trailers came out for this movie, and just like with the first two, the international one is the superior one, with a snappier pace and funnier lines. Despite all the negativity surrounding this remake, every new bit of footage seems to suggest it will be a pretty good movie. A lot of the jokes are pretty funny and the special effects for the ghosts look amazing. Considering the talent involved, I'm almost certain this will be one of the better comedies this year.
Ghostbusters is scheduled for release on July 15, 2016.
Star Trek: BeyondStar Trek Beyond is the third installment in the Trek reboot series and the thirteenth overall for the franchise. Directed by Justin Lin, with a script by Simon Pegg, Doug Jung, Roberto Orci, John D. Payne and Patrick McCay, the movie once again stars Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Lieutenant Uhura, Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Chekov and John Chu as Sulu. Joining the cast are Idris Elba as the villain Krall and Sofia Boutella as Jaylah.
The second trailer for 'Beyond' is a lot better than the first, which tried way too hard to be slick and cool. One of the main reasons this is a better trailer is because it focuses a lot more on characterization and character interaction, which, considering the ensemble cast playing the crew of the Enterprise, is a good thing indeed. I am a little worried about the amount of writers involved and I cannot say I am looking forward to seeing the Enterprise be destroyed yet again, but this trailer certainly had me more interested than the first one.
Star Trek Beyond is scheduled for release on July 22, 2016.
