TGS 2014: New Trailers for Final Fantasy XV & Type-0 HD
"Nomura no longer at the helm for FFXV & FFXV demo coming out next year"
Square-Enix needed something big to show for their biggest franchise,
Final Fantasy, at this year's Tokyo Game Show, and they indeed delivered on that. New trailers for
Final Fantasy XV and
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD are out and you can see them below.
Final Fantasy XV, formerly
Versus XIII, has been on development limbo for a while now and this new TGS trailer is full of new footage featuring Noctis and crew traveling around various locales at Lucis in a Mercedes-looking car. Some new combat stuff was shown as well, but besides the trailer being out there is new news concerning the game's development.
Tetsuya Nomura, who has been at the helm since the start of the game's development, is no longer working on the game and the new lead is Hajime Tabata, who previously worked on
Final Fantasy Type-0. This is a good call by Square-Enix so Nomura can focus on other stuff such as finishing
Kingdom Hearts III. A playable demo of
Final Fantasy XV, subtitled
Episode Duscae, will be available as a download code when you buy
Type-O HD in March.
Speaking of
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the new trailer above showed off it's enhanced graphics from the original PSP version that never came out here in the states. The game will be released on Playstation 4 and Xbox One on March 17, 2015, but I'm pretty sure the main reason fans will buy this is to play
Final Fantasy XV early.
Final Fantasy fans are pretty excited that
XV still exists as the game and they get to play it in some form next year. Are others excited for the next installment of Square-Enix's premier franchise? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
