Chapter 10 marks a rebound for Kenny Powers. After losing everything that he gained in Mexico, Kenny ran away… again, this time into the not so loving arms of his father. Right off the bat you can tell where Kenny gets a lot of his ways
Last week 30 Rock aired the show live, twice, once for East Coast and West Coast time zones. This week they’re back to their standard non-live format with the episode “Reaganing”, written by Matt Hubbard and Directed by Todd Holland. The term “Reaganing” is what Jack calls going 24 hours without making a single mistake. At the start of the episode, Jack is almost through a day of perfect decisions; when Liz enters his office with a problem involving her lovelife, Jack sees solving her problem as the ultimate challenge to complete his day of Reaganing.
This week’s episode of Supernatural, Live Free or TwiHard, as the title suggests, is centered around vampires and some much needed Twilight jokes. As someone who didn’t become a big Supernatural fan until season 3, I’ve always wondered why they have seemingly ignored one of the most classic monsters around. It seems like ghosts and shape-shifters have been used much more than vampires have in its later seasons.
This show is such a delight to watch and every week I just sit there waiting for them to slip up and but they never do. This week’s episode, Unplugged, once again splits the three families up and while I usually enjoy them together more, it works in this episode as all three storylines are interesting. Last week I hypothesized that the shows biggest strength, its large, diverse, and equally talented cast, can also be its weakness at time; Unplugged took what I said and made me look like an idiot.
Trey and Matt are not afraid to attack anything. In this week’s episode, Insheeption, they tackle both the television phenomenon of hoarding and the Nolan film Inception. The episode starts with some promise, Wendy breaking the news to Stan that he is a hoarder and Stan being unable to deal with it. Wendy’s concern brought some questions. I was not sure if the two were back together, but it seems they are. South Park has down played this relationship in the past few seasons and I actually forgot they had got back together. It serve its purpose though as it gets Stan to Mr. Mackey, whom is an even worse hoarder. They eventually venture into Mackey’s subconscious and the set up allows Trey and Matt to share their pretty unpopular opinion about Inception.
“Who is Don Draper?”
That was the question that opened this season, and much of it has dealt with Don attempting to find the answer. Having lost his family, his company, even Anna, the person he may have been closest with in the world, exactly who is left? In a year that has seen him attempt to give up drinking, start exercising, and achieve professional highs (his CLEO victory) and lows (losing Lucky Strike), he now, in the season finale seems to have come to some kind of understanding of, if not who he is, at least who he wants to be. And that person is…Roger Sterling?
Terriers has only gotten better and better as this season has gone on. I not only immensely like the characters, but find them believable and tragic in their own way. This week’s episode, Ring-a-Ding-Ding, combines both an interesting and emotionally impactful narrative with overarching character development, which makes you think about some characters differently. Just as we were starting to become comfortable with the show’s dynamic, both in terms of storytelling and character interactions, they change it up and it makes this episode and the entire show stronger.
