Archer – Stage Two Review

Tonight’s Archer was… wow. Never thought that Archer
of all shows would go to cancer as a storyline subject matter.
Thankfully, the episode works like gangbusters and delivered an amazing
progression of Archer’s character, but gave us huge laughs every couple
of minutes… hell, every couple of seconds. If you’re reading this and
you just so happen to work on a NBC show called The Event, pay attention to this episode and this review and maybe you’ll learn what real character development is.

The Cape – Endgame

The Cape has finally disappeared with his last puff of smoke.  Two weeks ago NBC aired the last episode of The Cape that would be televised, but they’ve released one final episode, Endgame, online. But don’t be fooled by the title, Endgame isn’t the series finale, it’s just the episode they were shooting when NBC pulled the plug.

First Look at Wonder Woman’s New Costume

Although not revealed at c2e2, DC Comics blog The Source revealed the first image of Wonder Woman’s costume for the new TV show. Actress Adrianne Palicki is in full costume which looks to be a mesh of new and old. Frankly I think it looks awesome and hope that the show will be a good mesh of the old and new as well. Here’s what DC’s blog The Source had to say. First image of Adrianne Palicki starring as the title character in the new NBC pilot “Wonder Woman,” from executive producer David E. Kelley (“Boston Legal,” “Ally McBeal,” NBC’s “Harry’s Law”). The pilot was written by Kelley, who also serves as executive producer with Bill D’Elia (“Boston Legal,” “The Practice,” NBC’s “Harry’s Law”). Jeffrey Reiner (“The Event”) is directing. Based upon DC Comics characters, “Wonder Woman” is from David E. Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Fringe – Stowaway

Last week I wasn’t sure about the soul magnets concept or
William Bell taking over Olivia’s body. And honestly, I don’t think the whole
thing is working out that well. The concept of minds inhabiting other bodies is
a staple of science fiction, but tying the whole thing to “souls” just makes
the idea seem too fanciful for this show. Bell
in general seems awfully flighty and mystical for a genius scientist, talking
about fate and destiny and offering spiritual reasons for the unexplainable as
much as physical ones. And Anna Torv’s Nimoy impression really got on my nerves
after a couple minutes. The focus is too much on the old guy voice, and not
just trying to match his inflection. It sounds stupid. Bell wouldn’t have a creaky voice in a young
woman’s body.

30 Rock – Queen of Jordan

This week’s 30 Rock is a single extended inside joke; the entire 30 minutes is an episode of a show-within-a-show.  Viewers who’ve been watching all season know that Tracy’s wife has her own reality show, Queen of Jordan, and now it has completely devoured 30 Rock!  The directing, editing, music, bumpers, and even the opening titles have been replaced with the sort of production values and camera work that viewers would expect from a crappy reality show, and the entire 30 Rock cast & crew have taken this idea and charged ahead full steam with it.  Such commitment, combined with the meta premise makes this the best episode of the season so far.

Young Justice – Bereft

In the latest Young Justice episode, our teen heroes find themselves unable to remember anything since before the team was formed.  This gives many of the characters the chance to “Do over” their first impressions, while also providing the audience with some missing backstory.  It’s a clever idea for doling out some exposition, while offering interesting character interactions at the same time.

Archer – Movie Star

Ditsy
airhead actress, Roma Thorn, is tapped to play a spy in her new movie.
So what’s her first move? Make a deal with Malory Archer to go with Lana
and learn the tricks of the trade while Archer tries to hone in on the
action. Meanwhile, Carol, Pam and Gillette obsess over the megastar in
their office with their “Operation Dick Sledge.” Need I say it? Hilarity
ensues.
I don’t even have to write a review to let you all know how “amazinnnnnngggg” this episode was, but I have to anyway.

This
week’s episode gave us three threads to chew on (or eat and pull out of
you over the course of a week — if you’ve seen the episode, you’ll get
that). Archer and Lana going head-to-head over the training of Roma,
the “gals” of the office sneaking into Roma’s penthouse to pull a
classic high school tradition that goes horribly wrong and Malory trying
to rewrite a movie script with Cyril (and let’s just say she has some
very specific “ideas” about the story). On paper, this episode could
have easily fallen flat on its ass. Not only did it succeed, but it blew
me away. Not quite as good as some of the other episodes, but this is
definitely in my top 5 for the series so far.
