Louie – Oh Louie/Tickets

The television show “Oh Louie” takes us back to one of the more depressing times in a life filled with little else.  C.K. was at his most self-referential in the episode ‘Tickets’, exploring two parts of his life that those unfamiliar with his career might not even know about. The episode explores the subject of plagiarism.

More Parks and Recreation Casting!

While
they may not be the most viewed shows on television, the critically
acclaimed comedies over at NBC are certainly getting some of the TV
viewing world’s attention with their casting. It’s now been confirmed that Dan Castellaneta is set to play a guest role on Parks and Recreation.

The actor, best known for providing the voice of Homer Simpson on The Simpsons, will appear in the third episode of the show’s fourth season, according to New York magazine. Castellaneta will play a public radio talk show host in the installment, which is expected to air in October.

More Game of Thrones Casting News

The already large ensemble cast of Game
of Thrones
just keeps growing, and recently three new characters
were added to the roster. It is again a crop of lesser-known actors
filling the roles, but that does not necessarily mean the characters
they are portraying will have no impact on the series.

Playing the enigmatic caged prisoner of
the Night’s Watch, Jaqen H’ghar, is Tom Wlaschiha(Valkyrie).
The German actor’s character will be traveling with Arya Stark on her
journey out of King’s Landing. Jaqen is known for his seductive
charm; which is only outweighed by his lethality.

Who Should Run The Walking Dead?

Frank Darabont’s departure
from The Walking Dead was a shock to the TV viewing world.
Coming on the heels of the Comic-Con panel, where Darabont joined
cast and crew in enthusiastically discussing the hit AMC series, the
announcement was extremely unexpected. Though Glen Mazzara has
already stepped into the role of show runner, the change in
leadership got me wondering; who else might be worthy of the
position? So I present three candidates who would be well suited for
the job, and while these picks are just wishful thinking, they are
nonetheless qualified.

With NBC passing on his latest project, 17th
Precinct
, Moore was available to take the reins on The Walking
Dead
. Working for years in the
Sci-Fi genre, it was his revival of
Battlestar Galactica
that brought him his most acclaim; and is what truly qualifies him to
take on
TWD. The
sprawling epic pitted the last vestige of humanity against seemingly
insurmountable odds. In addition to the obvious similarity,
Battlestar Galactica also
often conveyed that despite the horrors they faced in battle,
humanity is its own worst enemy; which is another central theme in
the
TWD comics. An
aspect that never seemed to translate to Darabont’s interpretation of
the series. Moore joining the
TWD
would mean reuniting with composer, Bear McCreary; whose work on BSG
produced one of the best soundtracks in television history, and is
all the more excuse to get the two of them back together.

Falling Skies – What Hides Beneath

After the amateurish two-parter, Falling Skies
rebounded this week with “What Hides Beneath,” an episode that not only
kept us interested for the full hour, but also managed to advance the
main story with fascinating surprises. The story’s flaws — which are
mostly inherent to the series — didn’t prevent it from delivering an
impressive lead-in to the last two episodes of the season.

The
episode did three things right from the very beginning. It first
introduced us to Weaver’s unrest, then laid out the resistance strategy
from which two of the four storylines stemmed from, and finally brought
Ben Mason to Dr Glass. The writers then skillfully unraveled the
storylines like spider webs from those starting points.

Breaking Bad on the Move?

True Blood – I Wish I Was The Moon

If TV shows gained popularity based on how annoyingly frustrating they are, True Blood
would be watched by at very least the entire population of Earth and
the Na’vi from Avatar. “I Wish I Was The Moon” didn’t really break from
the trend of utter pointlessness that a lot of what has come before it
put onto the screen as much as I would have liked it to, but it did just
enough to make the episode watchable, whilst still kind of sucking. The
entire fourth season of True Blood has thus far suffered from a fatal flaw –
I don’t know what the hell it’s about. Now half way through the season
it really doesn’t look like that is going to change by its conclusion,
hence the annoyance. The frustration beside that comes from the
indecision by the writers as a result of them clearly not knowing what
they’re doing either. Save for the premiere because there was nothing
before it, each one of the episodes has gone in a completely different
direction from the previous one, giving more or less weight to stories
seemingly at random. Worse still, the unnecessary length of the episodes
is killing the pacing – something that was particularly obviously this week.
