‘Fringe’ Loses Co-Showrunner and Gives Us a Peak at Season Five

As production is about to start on the fifth season of Fringe, it’s been reported that co-showrunner Jeff Pinkner is leaving the show. J.H. Wyman will serve as the sci-fi drama’s sole showrunner for the 13-episode final chapter. Pinkner ran the show during its first season, and was joined by Wyman as co-showrunner from season two. According to TVGuide.com, it was an amicable split. Pinkner is said to be leaving to pursue other projects.

Falling Skies – Worlds Apart

The season premiere of Falling Skies wasn’t at all like what we have been used to from the series, and that was a good thing. “Worlds Apart” gave us a multi-layered story with a structure that showed some creativity. The episode kept us interested for most of the hour, and there was no shortage of aliens (the real ones).

MTV’s ‘Awkward.’ Season Two Trailer

Ahead of the season two premiere, MTV has released a trailer for Awkward., its critically-acclaimed teen comedy. The video goes over what happened last summer and promises an awkward-er sophomore season. The show is centered on Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards), a teenager struggling with her identity and with first love after an accident is misconstrued as a suicide attempt.

NBC Announces Fall 2012 Premiere Dates

NBC has announced premiere dates for fall season 2012, and it would seem the peacock network has turned the traditional premiere week into a period spanning three months. The expression “premiere week” comes from the fact that broadcast networks have generally made our lives easier by having most of their fall shows premiere during one week in September. The loosely-defined week may not be the same for all networks, but there is almost always that one calendar week with enough overlapping premieres to support the idea of a cross-network “premiere week.” And needless to say, it typically has the decency to be at the turn of summer, right when autumn is about to start, as if to put some meaning in “fall TV season.”

Syfy Buys the Third Season of ‘Lost Girl’

The Huffington Post reports that Syfy has acquired the third season of Canadian drama Lost Girl, which is now in production. The supernatural series was renewed in December 2011 by Showcase (its original Canadian channel) for a 13-episode third season, down from the 22 episodes of season two.
