Season five of True Blood was heavy on the blood, sex, and supernatural – all in all, not that different than seasons past. It’s been a while since we last saw the Bon Temps gang, so here’s a look back at what Sookie Stackhouse, Jason, Eric, Pam, Bill, Alcide, and the rest of the vampires, werewolves, and fairies, were up to in season five.
Eddie Izzard returns as Dr. Gideon and Will Graham finally succumbs to his perceived madness in Hannibal’s “Roti.” While the episode features excellent work by Hugh Dancy and Madds Mikkelsen, the episode is plagued by reliance on the tired trope of comparing Will with a killer.
Bobby Cannavale is in talks to star in a rock ‘n’ roll series that will air on HBO. The show is created by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger; Terrence Winter wrote the pilot. Cannavale has recently been seen on the HBO drama Boardwalk Empire, which is executive produced by Scorsese and Winter.
Justin Chatwin, who plays Jimmy, the on and off boyfriend of Fiona Gallagher (Emmy Rossum), will not be returning for the fourth season of Shameless. While he was last seen getting on a boat and it was presumed that he would be killed and therefore not be returning, this announcement makes it official.
Certain shows have returned after cancellation, in the form of new episodes or a film. A few examples of this phenomenon are Arrested Development, Family Guy and, most recently, Entourage. This new idea shows the great power that audiences have as viewers of a show.
The season finale of Revolution delivers a surprising final twist that opens a realm of possibilities for the show’s second season. Overall, “The Dark Tower” is an average episode of the science fiction series with predictable storytelling and conflict, but redeems itself in its insane, game-changing final minutes.
Ronald D. Moore, the executive producer behind the successful Battlestar Galactica reboot, will be helming the new Starz drama Outlander, based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series. Starz has ordered 16 episodes, and the show will begin shooting in Scotland in October. Moore is also set to produce the new SyFy drama Helix this year.
