HBO’s True Blood bounced back after a weak premiere, setting up what looks to be a strong sixth season. Anna Paquin’s Sookie Stackhouse will be searching for her family’s killer, Stephen Moyer’s Bill is still trying to figure out why he is now Billith, and Alexander Skarsgård’s Eric has hatched a plan to get back at the governor of Louisiana.
Linden and Holder follow a lead about an injured girl that may be Kallie, and Bullet aids in the search. Danette becomes concerned about her missing daughter and the possible culpability of boyfriend Joe. Seward and Alton cement their friendship when Alton confesses his crimes.
The final season of the Showtime drama Dexter premieres Sunday, June 30th, and we take a look back to the previous season and speculate what might await Dexter and Debra Morgan, as well as the rest of the series’ characters, in the show’s eighth season.
NBC’s Hannibal ends its first season with a satisfying finale that sees Will Graham finally discover Hannibal Lector’s murderous tendencies, albeit not his Chesapeake Ripper actions. With a particularly strong finale, complete with Jack Crawford losing faith in Will, and strong performances from Madds Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy, Hannibal finishes its freshman season on a high note.
Liv Tyler is the latest cast member to join the new HBO drama The Leftovers, in addition to Justin Theroux, who was added recently. The show is directed by Peter Berg and co-written by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta. Tyler plays a young woman who is preparing to get married but needs an escape and is subsequently targeted by a cult.
Oscar-nominated actor John Hurt has been added to the upcoming series The Strain. The Strain is based on a graphic novel series that was written by Guillermo Del Toro. Del Toro co-wrote the script and will direct the show. The is about a CDC team that investigates a mysterious viral outbreak that appears to have an ancient strain of vampirism.
With Dexter on the way out, Showtime has begun promoting its upcoming dramas Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex. The network has released the premiere episode of Donovan online on its YouTube channel, and it has sent out an exclusive clip from Masters of Sex to whet audiences’ appetites.
