AMC’s The Walking Dead continues to build momentum toward its October 13 premiere with the release of a new scene from the first episode. The clip, which is centered around Michonne, shows walkers getting dangerously close to the fan favorite. The series has also released a four minute trailer for the upcoming season.
HBO is currently deciding if the upcoming seventh season of True Blood will be the show’s last. The decision will be made in the coming weeks, so that the writers can begin crafting the new storylines. If it is the swan song for Sookie, Eric, Pam, and Bill, they will be joined by three new regular cast members.
“Make Your Own Kind of Music” is an engaging and entertaining episode of Dexter, a well-paced and narratively rich installment that makes significant strides towards the end of the series.
The news team continues to deal with the difficult Genoa story that seems to be tearing apart the network. Jerry persists with the story and it is eventually given time on the air, although the team is forced to retract the story after Mackenzie finds out that Jerry falsified the evidence. More of the team is shown in the briefing room with Halliday, revealing more about each of their characters.
Ray is forced to deal with a messed up Sean Walker at the Kids’ Choice Awards. Avi spends the episode bringing Sully and his girlfriend back to LA from Boston, dealing with a number of problems along the way. Mickey’s involvement with Agent Miller continues to get more complicated after he comes by the gym and disrespects his sons.
AMC’s Breaking Bad focuses a series of confessions, as the show moves ever closer to its series finale. Walt deftly places Hank and Marie within the boundaries of his drug empire, recording a confession claiming Hank was the real mastermind behind the meth ring. And Jesse finally confesses to Walt that he knows Walt has manipulated him throughout the series.
With Mad Men and Breaking Bad set to sign off in the next year, is the age of the male antagonist drawing to a close? It certainly seems that way, as shows fronted by female protagonists, who embody many of the same traits as their male precursors, begin to emerge in the TV landscape. Among these new ranks are the leads in Orphan Black, American Horror Story: Asylum, Orange is the New Black, The Fall, and Top of the Lake.
