Both the series finale of Dexter and the penultimate episode of Breaking Bad broke ratings records last night, despite facing competition from the Emmy Awards broadcast and NFL football. It was a good night for CBS, too, which broadcasted the television awards show. Nearly 18 million people tuned in to the three-hour ceremony.

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were broadcast last night, and though the ceremony was your average mix of inexplicable musical numbers and overly long, unfunny “comedy” bits that ate up acceptance speech time, the awards given out were a good mix of unpredictable winners and old-school favorites.
