A lot of big numbers and stats have been thrown around by Bioware on the Star Wars: The Old Republic website, but one of the most surprising numbers was reported by the LA Times. From the initial concept all the way through development, SWTOR cost almost $200 million US dollars to create. The amount of people involved in the games production, included almost 1,000 voice actors for over 4,000 in game characters as well as thousands of Bioware’s artists, designers, producers, story writers, and motion capture employees.
As of Christmas Day, SWTOR has logged over 850,000 Sith Warriors and 810,000 Jedi Knights. The game has already had its first content update for players who have reached the level 50 character cap, and has more content on the way.
Additional stats include:
Over 60 million in-game hours – roughly equivalent to watching all six Star Wars movies over 4 million times
Over 260 million quests completed
Over 44 million PvP battles
Over 9 million space combat missions completed
Over 3 billion NPCs killed
It’s no secret that SWTOR is one of the fastest growing MMOs outside of World of Warcraft. In fact, the game has already been awarded over 105 industry awards and was named “Best Multiplayer Game of 2011” by MSNBC.
