Flashforward – Future Shock (Show Finale)

Flashforward is no longer with us. Doomed from birth and neglected by promiscuous parents with a penchant for lizard people, the show really never had a chance. But as the season finale demonstrated, the series is not one to go down without a fight, with Future Shock bringing the story full circle and ultimately leaves us teased with the hint of things never to come.

Flashforward – Countdown

The penultimate episode of Flashfoward tells the story of what really happens on April 29th before the events of the global premonitions. The individual stories of the central characters are addressed and while some people are nudged along predetermined paths, others are find themselves in situations contrary to their fate prophesied.

Countdown opens with Charlie (Mark and Olivia’s daughter) waking after a bad dream. This acts as a literal wake-up call as to what day it is. April 29th is the date of the moments witnessed be nearly every person on the planet.

Today’s the day… Today’s the day Daddy’s gonna die”.

Flashforward – Negotiation

We might as well address the elephant in the room before getting wrapped up in the episode review. Announced officially last week, Flashforward has been cancelled. Flashforward – Course Correction

The title ’Course Correction’ is an apt name for an episode predominantly focused on determinism and avoiding a fate prophesied.  Another few pieces of the jigsaw slot into place for both the audience and the Mosaic investigation. Old sub-plots are re-addressed, some possibly unnecessarily, but they stimulate some interesting ideas and continue the theme of the meandering flow of time.

Flashforward – Garden of Forking Paths

The episode begins with the sweaty brow of Demetri Noh. It’s March 15th, the date of his prophesied death and he’s tied to a chair with the gun that is supposed to kill him pointed at his heart. Simply put, things are not looking good for Demetri.

Flashforward – Queen Sacrifice

An important episode that addressed the unanswered question of the mole which was really the cliff-hanger we were left with last year. This has remained largely untouched since the hiatus and personally I had all but forgotten about its significance.

FlashForward – Let No Man Put Asunder

FlashForward has been gaining pace in more recent weeks and the writers appear to be making a conscious effort to address certain unanswered questions which the first ten episodes provoked and failed to return to. An excellent example is the story of Mark’s sponsor, Aaron Stark, and his daughter’s presumed death, return to the US and then subsequent kidnapping. For nearly eight episodes we have heard almost nothing of, what to me, is one of the more intriguing plot lines.  This week’s episode acts as a welcome return to some of these unresolved questions and focuses largely on Agent Noh’s immanent death as foretold by the FlashForward.
