Person of Interest – Ghosts

With some room to breathe after a jam-packed pilot, new CBS crime thriller Person of Interest found its groove this week in “Ghosts,” a case-focused episode, but one that continued to highlight some long-term questions about our future crime-stopping duo, Reese and Finch.

The see-all know-all machine, whose past we get to see a little of in this episode, wastes no time making things interesting when it churns out the Social Security number of a girl believed to be several years dead. Reese (James Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson) start digging up the past to see if the machine is right and the girl is, in fact, still alive. Not only must they solve what happened to her several years ago, but also what might happen to her in the near future.

Alphas – Original Sin

Alphas‘ season finale “Original Sin” was full of surprises. Even more than the previous two episodes, it dramatically advanced the main storyline and left everyone wondering what will become of the team and, more importantly, what sort of world the second season will be set in.

The story starts with Dr. Rosen’s team chasing down Isaac, the Red Flag assassin responsible for the murders that, in the previous episode, triggered their arrest and incarceration in Binghamton. While the team is after the killer because of the sudden disappearance of many Red Flag leaders, the man himself is on the trail of a young woman, Dani, who has apparently stolen something from Red Flag. Dani turns out to be an Alpha and, to everybody’s surprise, Rosen’s daughter.

Aquaman #1 – Review

Okay, first let’s get this straight: I love Geoff Johns. You love Geoff Johns. The comic world loves Geoff Johns, and that’s no surprise — he’s a great writer. But, I must admit, when I first heard that one of the comics he was writing for The New 52 was Aquaman,  I immediately thought it was going to be a failure. I’ve never read Aquaman before, but can you blame me? It’s Aquaman! So when I started reading Geoff John’s Aquaman #1, my expectations weren’t the highest, but then something happened: I was blown away. With an incredibly well-drawn, smart, dramatic, and even funny first issue, Geoff Johns has proven me wrong and shown me that Aquaman is indeed a force to be reckoned with in the DC Universe.

Batman: The Dark Knight #1 – Review

If you’re looking for nothing new, Batman: The Dark Knight will heavily supply you with overused ideas that everyone has seen before in a Batman comic.  This issue starts the series off to an okay note, but is easily overshadowed by the awesomeness that is Batman #1.  The only thing this issue does manage to do better at times is the great artwork from David Finch, who manages to draw beautiful women and Arkham’s deadly inmates well.

Writer Paul Jenkins begins Batman: The Dark Knight with Bruce Wayne making a speech about how we cannot let fear affect us.  Bruce then gets into a heated argument with internal affairs officer Forbes.  Their dispute is quickly broken up by the beautiful (and undoubtedly newest addition to Bruce’s long list of love interests) Jai Hudson.  But Bruce’s time with her is cut short when he has to rush to Arkham and stop the inmates from escaping, which includes a very changed Two-Face.

The Walking Dead Web-Series to Premiere October 3rd

While its October 16th premiere is still over two weeks away, fans of The Walking Dead will have an earlier opportunity to see new material from the zombie drama, as a web-series related to the show is set to premiere on amctv.com on October 3rd.

The web-series is touted as a prequel to the show, focusing on Hannah (Lilli Birdsell), known to fans as “Bicycle Girl,” the legless zombie that Rick Grimes encountered shortly after first waking up in the hospital during the show’s pilot episode. Her name is, of course, drawn from her vicinity to the bicycle that Rick took, since lacking any legs, she wasn’t doing much riding herself. Per AMC, “Fans will learn about Hannah’s life before the apocalypse, her struggle to survive and protect her family as the world begins to fall apart, and her ultimate demise into zombie-hood.”
