Colombiana Review

Colombiana is as inept a movie as I’ve seen in a long time. The film does virtually nothing right. The acting is wooden, the writing is atrocious and there’s little action to be found, actually. We’re supposed to care about this heroine, but everything about her story is clunky and unoriginal.

Books to Read From IDW Publishing

IDW was known for its horror before its licensed titles. Here, we showcase some of the better series produced by IDW Publishing that focus on the more horrific side of comics. IDW’s first comic, which launched an infamous seven-way bidding war for a movie (which scored a 49% on Rotten Tomatoes), 30 Days of Night, was written by Steve Niles. Niles loves to write horror and has tackled numerous dark characters in the comic universe, including Batman, Spawn and his own creation, Simon Dark. His series 30 Days of Night was another vampire title, but with a creative twist: the vampires come to the Alaskan town of Barrow where, from mid-November to mid-December, the town is completely dark all day long. The perfect setting for a vampire. It’s feeding time!

They Died So Young: 5 Great Three Season Shows

Alright. So three seasons is not all
that young when it comes to the lifetimes of television shows, but
that’s my tagline. And just as with the ones from the first two
features, these series were also killed off before their time. In
this final installment I’ll cover five more series that were still
taken from us too soon, despite them lasting longer than many great
shows. There’s an old show about futuristic space, and a recent show
about the old west. A dramedy about a teen detective, and a comedy
about a dysfunctional family. And no list of great three seasons
shows would be complete without a cult classic featuring a tattoo
named Petunia.

Emmy Nominations 2011: Fringe Snubbed & Game of Thrones Praised

This year’s Emmy nominations have just been unveiled as reported by Ali, and two dramas dear to Player Affinity TV (PATV) have met strikingly different fates. Fringe was all but ignored while Game of Thrones not only won recognition but arguably broke the glass ceiling. Since the announcement yesterday, Fringe
seems to have garnered better chances in a less prestigious contest.
The series has been appearing systematically on lists about the “Biggest
Snubs” of this year’s Emmy Awards. Fox’s sci-fi drama received Emmy
nominations in 2009 and 2010 for visual effects and sound editing
respectively. For its third season, generally considered by fans as its
best by far, expectations were high. Many timidly hoped for a nomination
of the drama series itself, more felt Anna Torv’s performance deserved a
nod, but all agreed John Noble could not be denied an Emmy. Anna Torv
and John Noble have both impressed and delighted viewers by each of them
playing several characters throughout the season.
