Russell Crowe’s last few films, including The Next Three Days, Robin Hood, and State of Play, failed to ignite audiences quite like A Beautiful Mind and Gladiator. However, his latest offers suggests he's lost none of his prestige.
Crowe is currently negotiating to star as Jor-El, famed biological father of Superman, in the Zack Snyder reboot Man of Steel. Jor-El is one the last major characters to be cast; Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Kevin Costner are already lined up for big roles while Henry Cavill will play the last son of Krypton.
Variety broke the news of Jor-El's casting, a part once played by two-time Oscar winner Marlon Brando in Richard Donner's original Superman. Crowe is a strong and rather interesting choice for this character, but it’s doubtful that his portrayal will be quite as revered.
Does Russell Crowe have the stature to play Jor-El?
