Square-Enix and Crystal Dynamics yesterday announced the release date for the long awaited PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Previously exclusive to Xbox platforms and released on PC a bit later, PS4 folks finally get it on October 11th. One of the best games of last year gets even better with more new content for all versions.
This release is in time for the franchise's 20th anniversary where it first began on the original Playstation. The PS4 version comes with the full game and Playstation VR support with the new Blood Ties chapter where Lara revisits the Croft Manor. Her uncle is attempting to recclaim the manor for himself, so it's up to Lara to stop that from happening. In addition, Lara's Nightmare has her defending the infamous mansion from of course zombies. Cmon guys, again with the zombies? Along with the all previously released DLC for other versions, co-op endurance mode is also coming to the PS4 version.
But what about Xbox and PC folks? They get the new content free minus VR support when it comes out on October as long as they bought the season pass. Classic outfits from the previous games are also coming to the PS4 version especially the full PS1 look. The box art however, looks a bit familiar to a similar game and even Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann noticed it. Thanks Melania Trump.
Rise of the Tomb Raider comes out for the Playstation 4 on October 11th. It still costs $60 but with all the previously released DLC, more new modes and VR support for the new chapter, it's gonna be worth it. A limited edition artbook is the pre-order bonus as well. Here's my review of the Xbox One version from last year in case you're still waiting for the PS4 one.
