Reactions to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer
Months after fans had received a sneak peak at last years San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios has finally shown us what
Guardians of the Galaxy looks like. The trailer can be seen
here, where it premiered earlier tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Kimmel had on
Guardian star Chris Pratt, who stars as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, to talk about Marvel Studios' first major foray into outer space.
While the footage recreates much of the same footage as the sneak peak, now the rest of the world can see it in glorious HD. As a fan of the comics, I can honestly say that this trailer delivers on all the aspects that made this book phenomenal. From the great delivery of jokes, to the character designs, even to the minor action that we see in the trailer, this trailer makes the Guardians of the Galaxy really feel like they've come to life.
Another great thing about this trailer is that while its pretty lengthy, it still doesn't give too much away in terms of what's going on in the film. This trailer gives us just enough to understand the tone, scope and overall feel of what makes the Guardians work. While I was weary about some aspects of the casting, it certainly seems as though everyone looks spot on and I can't wait to see how it all plays out later this August!
Here's Melisa's thought on the recent trailer!
"Keeping in mind that I know nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy at all: Christ Pratt, Djimoun Honsou, John C. Reilly, Benicio del Toro- sold! I instantly love the talking fox named Rocket. He's cute, and he has a machine gun, (awww yeah). Can the whole movie be shots of the Rocket Raccoon grinning while he goes through rounds of CGI bullets with his CGI gun? Also, studios do realize Zoe Saldana does not have a monopoly on the sole female lead in sci-fi franchises right? Or maybe- just write more central female roles.... just saying.... I'm still going to watch this!!!
We'll have more thoughts from our writers coming in a few, but what are your thoughts on the first trailer for
Guardians of the Galaxy? Are you as excited as we are, or do you think this is going to be a major thud for Marvel Studios?
