Sniper: Ghost Warrior Sequel Takes Aim At CryEngine 3

City Interactive, developer of last year’s surprisingly successful Sniper: Ghost Warrior for 360 and PC, and its subsequent PS3 port, have announced that a sequel is in the works. Producer Michal Sroczynski revealed the game for the first time during an interview with Eurogamer.se, but he remained tight-lipped about the project. The only tidbit that was released was the game’s new engine: Crytek’s super-powerful CryEngine 3 will be used to craft the game for a simultaneous release on PS3, 360, and PC.

The PS3 has posed quite a challenge to hackers since its release. Thanks to a solid OS and numerous firmware updates (hey, at least they’re good for something,) Sony has managed to keep would-be hackers at bay. For years, it seemed as though the PS3 was a puzzle that the modding community would never be able to fully crack. But last month, all of that changed.

TurboGrafx Comes to PSN

Continuing the trend of obscure gaming consoles being resurrected on PSN, Hudson has released a list of TurboGrafx-16 that will come to PSN sometime this month. Like last month’s Neo Geo releases, the TG16 titles being released can loosely be considered classics, and there will be a whole swarm of them coming around the same time. Although no specific prices or release dates have been announced, it would be reasonable to assume that they will hover around eight to ten dollars, like the Neo Geo games, and there are only three more Tuesday PSN updates left in the month, so we should be seeing these titles soon. The full list of re-releases is as follows:

Ubisoft Confirms Plans For Splinter Cell Trilogy In HD

Ubisoft recently confirmed the rumors that they would be porting three of last generation’s best stealth games to the PS3. Splinter Cell Trilogy HD, which would presumably consist of Splinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow, and Chaos Theory, will release on the PS3 at a date yet to be specified. Oddly enough, no mention has yet been made of a 360 version of this trilogy. This is especially strange given that the original Xbox was the lead platform for Clancy’s stealth franchise. No further information has been made available, but we will keep you updated.

DC Universe Online Release Date Revealed

After being pushed from its November release date to a vague “Spring 2011,” DC Universe Online has finally been given a concrete release date by Sony Online Entertainment. The super hero MMO will go live January 11th in North America, and January 14th in the UK. A Sony representative confirmed the date in an interview with IGN, in which a $199 “lifetime subscription” option was also detailed. This one-time payment, equaling just over 13 months in the game’s normal $15/month subscription fee, would allow players unlimited access to the game for as long as they want. Do not feel pressured to make a payment decision right away, though; new copies of the game will ship with a free month of play as a sort of “Thank you” from SOE.
