Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 Requires Internet Connection

Capcom’s newest and somewhat-hyped PSN game Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 requires a constant connection to the internet to play. That’s right, despite the game’s lack of online co-op, you must be connected to PSN at all times while playing the game or it will stop working. This is an effort on Capcom’s part to keep the game from being shared amongst PS3 owners, and it works a lot like the DRM on many PC games.

I Am Alive Lives On PSN?

Okay, file this as a rumor for now, but a very interesting one. Remember that Ubisoft game I Am Alive? The post-natural-disaster-survival game that was originally announced way back in 2008? Well according to jeuxvideo.fr’s Warpzone, the game has shifted formats significantly thanks to some internal struggles.

New Releases This Week on PS3 (2-1-11)

Not much in the way of new store release this week for the PlayStation 3. But as we did get Dead Space 2 last week, andLittleBigPlanet 2 the week before, we shouldn’t complain too much. The biggest PlayStation Network release this week is probably Assassin’s Creed II Deluxe Edition, which is a downloadable version of the full game with three new extra maps.

Cloud Saving on PS3

Data loss or corruption is not an unfamiliar concept to gamers, which is why the online saving functions introduced by companies like Blizzard and Valve Software are so appealing. Now Sony has plans to make this convenient storage method available to PS3 users—at least those who are subscribed to the PlayStation Plus service. The idea is to be able to access backup data from one of Sony’s servers in the unfortunate event that your console’s hard drive takes a dive. It has been speculated that players will still be able to save locally, but saves and other data will be copied to one or more secure “cloud” servers for easy access later on.

Uncharted, Killzone, LBP, More In Development For NGP

Nathan Drake is going on yet another adventure on Sony’s newly-announced NGP. Developed by Sony Bend, the team responsible for Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow and Resistance Retribution, the new sequel will see a few interesting (read: gimmicky) control tweaks that take advantage of the NGP’s revamped UI. For example, you can tap on the screen to jump instead of pressing X (although hitting the button is still an option,) you will have to swing the system back and forth to swing on vines, and you will have to trace your fingers over each other on the system’s rear touchpad in order to climb up ropes, “as if you’re climbing a vine with both hands.”

NGP Is Sony’s Next Portable

As expected, Sony dropped a bomb on journalists at last night’s press conference in the form of the PSP2. Only it wasn’t actually called the PSP2. Perhaps looking to get away from the mild disaster that was the original PSP, a system that was riddled with hacks and generally lacked a compelling software lineup, Sony has nicknamed their newest handheld system the NGP, or the Next Generation Portable.

Playstation Suite Coming To Android Phones

Remember those Playstation phone rumors that have been circling around for the last few months? Well Sony finally gave them credence at last night’s press conference, but not in the form that we were all expecting. Instead of unveiling a Playstation-branded phone, as many had assumed would happen, Kaz Hirai announced the “Playstation Suite,” which “provides PlayStation content to other devices,” such as Android-based phones.
