Playstation 4 details that were not shown at the conference have come forth.
Firstly, playing online multiplayer on the Playstation 4 is going to require players to have a Playstation Plus subscription. This is similar to what Microsoft did with Xbox 360 and now Xbox One. A PS+ membership costs $49.99 a year, or $17.99 if you want to pay for three months. Xbox Live Gold costs $59.99 a year. Sony has said that if you already have a Playstation Plus subscription, you will not have to create a new one.
Secondly, Sony has confirmed that the PS4 will be region locked which means that gamers will be able to import games that have not been localized. This goes for games even though blu-ray movies remain a mystery. The Xbox One is, however, region-locked. Microsoft blames "country-specific regulatory guidelines" that, for some reason, Sony seems to be exempt from.
Lastly, the PS4 package details have been unveiled. With your purchase of the $399 PS4, it will sport a 500GB system, a Dualshock 4 controller, for the first time ever for a Sony console, a HDMI cable, and lastly a headset of some sort is packaged as well. The Playstation Eye will be sold separately for $59 as well as additional controllers.
