E3 ’10: Medal of Honor and Dead Space 2 PS3 Extras

It was rather surprising how many exclusive packages that Sony is acquiring. They’re pulling a Microsoft on us. The latest in Sony’s acquisitions is it getting a Medal of Honor Special Edition. Included is not just the game itself, but also a fully HD version of the 2002 hit Medal of Honor: Frontline, which I know makes a lot of people happy. Of course, skipping Frontline and playing the new, full (and what looks to be a damn fine game) Medal of Honor is an option too. The beta starts June 21.

If you purchase the Dead Space 2 Special Edition, which is exclusive to the PS3, you will receive Dead Space Extraction as well. Extraction is fully compatible with Move. Sound like a good deal? I thought so. No price was announced for it, but I’d assume 70 bucks, 80 bucks tops. I was already sold on Dead Space 2, but adding this in made me buy it for PS3. Good job, Sony.

E3 ’10: Portal 2 Coming To PS3

When a sultry AI voice came over the Sony Press Conference’s speakers, I was immediately excited. I was a bit confused, sure. But man, GLaDOS! Something about that voice makes me smile. Then Gabe Newell came out, looking like he was about to get attacked by a bunch of Sony fanboys.

He then went on to announce that Portal 2 would be coming to the PS3 and would be “”the best version on any console.” Strong words from a man that never seemed to be too into the PS3. It wasn’t only that, he also announced full Steamworks support for Portal 2 on the PS3. Which will be the only console to receive that feature.

E3 ’10: Playstation Plus Announced

It’s been speculated for a while but Sony has finally announced it: a (optional) subscription to PSN, entitled Playstation Plus. If you join Playstation Plus, you’ll get access to a lot of exclusive content plus some games. All this could be yours for 50 bucks a month.

The first month of service will feature Wipeout HD, a trial of inFAMOUS, two PSP mini games and the PlayStation classic Rally Cross. The real catch here is that you only get this stuff while you’re subscribed, you can’t sign up, get it, then leave.

E3 ’10: Twisted Metal!

TWISTED METAL TWISTED METAL TWISTED METAL

Today, at Sony’s E3 Press Conference, David Jaffe (The man that said he wouldn’t be at E3 and definitely wouldn’t be showing a Twisted Metal game) showed a Twisted Metal game. And it looks great. It was reviled with a semi-funny, semi-amazing trailer and then followed up by some very fine looking game play.

With destructible environments, 16-player online, 4-player split-screen, Twisted Metal is definitely something to watch for in 2011.

Final Fantasy XIII Causes Some Issues

Whenever a Final Fantasy fan boots-up a new game from their favorite franchise, there are many things going through their heads: How is the story, the gameplay, the characters, and of course, the game world? However, for some people one of their first thoughts was

Video Interview with Virtual Air Guitar CEO

Controller-less gaming is one of the main topics of discussion that is on the minds of gamers everywhere, especially with E3 less than a week away. Project Natal is right on the horizon for Xbox 360 and the PS Eye is being used in new and innovative ways to help immerse gamers even more into their gaming experience.

On that note, I had a chance a few weeks ago to chat with the CEO of Virtual Air Guitar, Teemu Maki-Patola, about their new game Kung-Fu Live, expected to be released just in time for the holiday season on the PlayStation Network and to be used in conjunction with the PS Eye.

Joe Danger Release Date

Joe Danger had a release date for late May to Early June and seeing that May is over we were waiting for it to be pushed back for a few more weeks.  The guys at Hello Games clarified that it is not being pushed back and is being release June 8th on the PSN. If you look at some screenshots of Joe Danger it pretty much just looks like Excite Bike on drugs.  With obstacles at every turn and a few different game modes to play with your friends.  It will end up costing you $15 not to bad considering the content if you’re into insane racing games, I know I am.  Make sure to check back here at Player Affinity for more PSN news.
