New LBP 2 trailer reveals story and mechanics

Sony has recently released a new trailer for Media Molecule’s latest installment of the LittleBigPlanet franchise. The new footage reveals a “Cosmic-sized Adventure” where Sackboy will navigate his way across over fifty levels of gameplay. He will also have some support in the form of “The Alliance” which seems to be a group of special non-playable characters who will contribute to a more story-centric LBP2. In addition to new friends, Sackboy will now have an antagonist in the form of “The Evil Negativitron”, a dark presence that wants to destroy Craft World and everything inside.

A new story driven, single-player DLC pack has just been announced for Bioshock 2. Blazblue: Continuum Shift Review

Blazblue: Calamity Trigger was released back in the summer of 2009. It was the latest fighting game made by Arc System Works, the creators of the well received Guilty Gear games. As with all successful fighting games, Blazblue was due for an update which balances out performance, eliminates overpowered moves and addresses problems vocalized by the fan base. Blazblue: Continuum Shift accomplishes just that and takes the opportunity to reach out to those outside the usual demographic.

EA announces Create

EA has just announced a new multi-platform title called Create. The game loosely ties together the expansive level creation tools of Little Big Planet with puzzle solving elements in a way that EA hope will work as a family title. The design tool aspect seems to be the central part of what they are trying to achieve, with the puzzles being more selective. “We wanted to design a game where the entire family can explore, decorate, and solve challenges where no solution is wrong and the only limit is the imagination” said Harvey Elliott, General Manager at EA Bright Light, the studio developing Create. In each scene the player is presented with ways to power-up their play and unlock new hidden areas, while being encouraged to experiment with objects and use effects to create simple, challenging solutions.

Sony announced earlier this week that Playstation PLUS subscribers will now have to wait for new content every other week effective immediately. As a result, there will be no PLUS content this week. But cheer up, there is a Summer Sale on some of the better downloadable content going on now so it’s almost like there is PLUS content this week…almost. Some games are marked down as low as 50% so if you were even considering Echoshift or Fat Princess then it’s your lucky week. Those of you waiting for more retail releases for PS3 and PSP will be most disappointed indeed. Do what I do and use this “opportunity” to catch up on your backlog of games sitting on your entertainment center or maybe, just maybe, reread some Player Affinity articles.

Download Version of NBA Jam Coming to 360, PS3

Confirming earlier reports of the possibility of a 360 and PS3 release of NBA Jam, Electronic Arts tells us that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of NBA Elite will come packaged with a one-time use code for a downloadable version of NBA Jam. The download will be completely remastered in HD, and include three playable game modes. As of now it’s unclear as to how this HD version of NBA Jam will differ from its Wii counterpart, which will release as a standalone and at full retail value. Additionally, the only way 360 and PS3 owners will get their Jam fix is by buying a brand new copy of NBA Elite.
