Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Rumors
about the next
Resident Evil
have been validated, and it has been confirmed that a new game is
scheduled for release this winter. This title is dubbed
“Resident
Evil: Operation Raccoon City”

and will be developed by Slant Six, the former body behind
SOCOM
series. The game will be set in 1998 during the original outbreak
that underscored the first few games in the franchise. This time
however, players will not be taking part as BSAA agents, but those
responsible for the outbreak at Umbrella Corporation. In the game, up
to four players can take roles as USS (Umbrella Security Services)
and engage in team-based missions. USS is comprised of Vector,
Beltway, Bertha, and Spectre. Your role on the team will vary
depending on which character you choose. Objectives for the USS team
include destroying evidence of the outbreak, quarantining key
figures—and of course killing infected. An XP system will be
implemented in order to acquire weapon upgrades and abilities.

New Releases This Week for PS3 (3.20.11)

Here we are again for another
week of new PlayStation releases. First off, unfortunately we missed last weeks
update, but the major new content that arrived on PSN included the PSone classic
Parasite Eve, and the PS3 games Slam Bolt Scrappers, Hard Corps: Uprising, and Prince of Persia. There were also a
couple of big new games in stores, notably the excellent FPS Homefront, Yakuza 4, and Top Spin 4.

This week is another big one
for new games. Arriving on the PSN are: Swarm,
which is an action-platformer; PlayStation
Move Heroes
, which is a series of mini games for the Move; Battle: Los Angeles is the game of the
film; and Premier Manger is a soccer management
sim. The main new PSN game is probably Ghostbusters: Sanctum Of Slime, which is a fast-paced and colorful four-player arcade blaster based in the world of the popular films.

Outland Preview

What do you get when you take the visuals of Tron, the story of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and gameplay of Prince of Persia? Why, you get the new PSN game Outland!
From what has come out so far we can tell that the game centers around
the conflict of the two natural forces of this world. It’s your job to
end this while harnessing the power of both sides to do so (this being
done by transitioning from using dark or light energy — red or blue).
While using one or the other, you are able to use certain things that
share that energy and not be affected by that engery when it attacks.
However the opposite is also true. To do damage you must be in the
corresponding energy.

PS3 HD Collections That Should Be Made

With the releases of the God of War and Sly Cooper collections out, and the Shadow of Colossus/Ico and Tomb Raider
collections on the way, it’s apparent to game developers that this sort
of thing is a good idea. While these compilations haven’t made nearly
as much as other games, these games cost much less to produce. All they
really require is a new coat of paint, and maybe a little debugging.
That being said, there are a lot of last generation classics and this
would help them get around that whole backwards compatibility thing.
These are just some of the series that might be worth putting into a
collection.
