PlayStation 3 Rewards Delayed, Possibly Canned

Kotaku is reporting that the PlayStation Rewards project has been scraped.
Originally, this was setup to reward PlayStation 3 owners just by
playing PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network games or event
participating in events on PlayStation Home. The rewards ranged from
avatars and themes to even special all-paid trips to industry exclusive
events. The Reward project was originally planned to be launched in
April, but the beta testers were sent an unwelcoming e-mail with the
following message:

Mass Effect 2: Arrival Review

Arrival is supposed to be the final piece of content for
Mass Effect 2, the one that will bridge the gap between it and the third game
in the trilogy, which will be released later this year. And it more or less
does so, though not without a couple hiccups along the way.

Mafia II Re-Release Confirmed

2K Games
has finally confirmed that there will be a re-release of Mafia
II
, which will feature all of the previous DLC packs for the
title. The all-inclusive versions of the game, dubbed the “Director’s
Cut” will cost $30 and will ship in a Greatest Hits package on the
PS3. 2K has stated that the Mafia II re-release will feature
the core game, add-on content, and the four DLC style packs that were
once retail-exclusive. These include the Vegas, Renegade, Greaser and
War Hero character schemes which come complete with two cars and two
suits to use in the game. Along with the style packs, the three
additional mission packs will also be rolled into the mix. These are
“The Betrayal of Jimmy”, “Jimmy’s Vendetta”, and “Joe’s
Adventures.” Each pack adds a unique perspective to the game and
offers players dozens of new missions to the story.

Gearbox Denies Duke Nukem Forever Delay was a Marketing Ploy

It’s not much of a suprise, hell… even the guys at Gearbox and 3D Realms must have seen it coming. But Duke Nukem Forever got delayed by an entire month, originally due for a worldwide release on May 6th 2011, despite being in development for an eye-watering 14 years.

After the recent push-back of the latest installment of Duke’s ventures into girls and guns, which was announced by Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford via a comedic youtube video; rumours spread that the delay was nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

New Releases This Week for PS3 (3.28.11)

Another strong week for new
games on the PS3, especially for racing fans with three new racing games arriving
in stores in the shape of: NASCAR 2011,
Shift 2, and MotoGP.
Also out in stores this week
are wrestling game WWE All Stars,
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12, and the hack
and slash game Dynasty Warriors 7.

New games on the PlayStation
Network include a port of the original Sonic
the Hedgehog
, the second part of the excellent Back to the Future: The Game, and the download re-release of the
full game of Split/Second.
