After filing a series of lawsuits
against each other, Sony and LG have finally decided to hug it out.
The two companies had been locked in messy disputes, most notably when
the Korean electronics giant had customs officers seizing PS3 consoles
in the Netherlands due to a court injunction. The litigation
bombardments stemmed from the two companies failing to renegotiate a new
technology sharing agreement. The previous agreement had gone stale
three years ago.
PlayStation Network update 3.70 is live and with it comes
two big features exclusive to Plus subscribers: instant trophy syncing and cloud saved game data. But sadly for us regular users of PSN, they may as well have
not been included. I personally would love to have cloud saves, especially for
my aging PS3 with its oh-so tiny and thus near-useless hard drive, but alas I
have too many expenses already right now, especially at this point in the year
with a ton of big games I have to
buy. Nonetheless, this is great news for anyone who does have Plus; it’s
because of additions like these that really do make the upgraded
service compelling.
So, if you bought Duke Nukem Forever…well, we’re sorry. I think everyone wanted the game to be good for nestalgia sake, but we have to frankly say the game sucked. However, that didn’t stop Take-Two from being happy about the game
For almost six years now, fans have been waiting for the next new
Elder Scrolls game, scheduled to release this November on PC and both HD
consoles. It’s the kind of prolonged wait that can exaggerate the
amazement of a beloved series in your mind, and make you want to express
your love by doing something crazy, like paying way more than you have
to to get your hands on the game. Publishers have been supporting
this impulse for years with various special editions of their biggest
games, and Bethesda’s Skyrim is no exception, as their gigantic
Collector’s Edition version of the game has been priced at $149.99 and
contains a few big extras.
Sony’s new handheld gaming system, the PlayStation Vita, will not be released in the United States this year. The system is priced at $249.99. Some people think it should be lower.
Sony recently announced that it would be changing the offer to the package deal for their 3D. Sony has changed the packed in game from the upcoming Resistance 3 to another less desirable tittle.
As someone who was very excited to play David Jaffe’s big
return to car combat this year, this is disappointing news indeed but
ultimately not surprising. Jaffe responded to the announcement that Twisted Metal will miss its October
release window and be pushed back to next year with the following: “Thing is, you gotta trust me when I tell you that – with this extra time
for tuning and polish – the game is going to be so much better than it already
is.”
