Zombie Driver HD coming to PSN

PSN users can now look forward to experiencing the top down indie vehicular gore-fest Zombie Driver. While a specific date has not been given, Pawell Lekki announced on the PlayStation Blog this week that Zombie Driver HD will be coming to PSN soon. The release will be far more than a simple port, including not only re-tuned controls, but all the same free content available for PC, as well as a new re-made campaign featuring twice the content of the original, including new side missions, new enemies, more vehicles and numerous gameplay tweaks.

Chrono Trigger coming to PSN

Now here is a well beloved rpg I’ve always been interested
in trying out: Chrono Trigger.

Next week, on Tuesday – October the 3rd, Chrono Trigger will be available on the PlayStation Network.  You’ve most likely heard of it as it’s often hailed as one of the greatest role playing games of all time, up there with the likes of Baulders Gate 2 and Diablo 2.  No price has been announced or confirmed yet, but Charles McCarter, Product Manager at Square Enix, has also hinted at Chrono Cross getting similar treatment in the future on PSN.   As far as is known, this is a straight port of the original game, no assets are being re-made for high definition or anything like that, but being a downloadable title that will hopefully be priced reasonably this shouldn’t prevent those who are interested from checking it out.

I Sure Wish I Could Play This on My Television

Speaking
as a gamer and technophile, I absolutely want a Playstation Vita the
day it makes its way to North America.  Speaking as a person with bills
who needs to set aside money and make plans for unnecessary purchases,
like entertainment and media, I’m not certain if the right kinds of
games are coming to make it worth my $250.

Risk + Metal Gear Solid

Last week, Konami announced their next venture for the Metal Gear Solid franchise: board games.  RISK: Metal Gear Solid Limited Edition, more specifically. Utilizing elements from the video games, such as Metal Gear Solid-specific black-market weaponry, eight different mercenary boss characters,  Drebin’s shop, and the Outer Haven battleship, players will take control  of up to five different PMC armies and try to take control of the world!   With the classic, at least classic 2008, rule set and two new rule sets  specific to this edition, there are a variety of ways to play and with  nigh 300 custom game pieces, custom game board, and box art by franchise artist Yoji Shinkawa, a collector of video game merchandise could  certainly do a whole lot worse than this.  Presales begin on Monday,  October 3rd, exclusively at USAopoly.com for $49.95.

As someone who doesn’t have enough friends to get a good game of RISK going, is anyone else super stoked for this?

HD Remakes Will Be the End of Me

As I write this, I am eagerly awaiting the moment I wake up tomorrow, fore the 27th marks the release of two of my all time favorite games on the PS3: Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Yet while I wait for these games to be released on the $40 disc that many PS2 classics have been ported to, I have to wonder if we would even be having this conversation six years ago, before the release of the PS3. Back when the PS2 was current, the need for disc remakes of PS1 games was unnecessary, because every PS2 could play close to any PS1 game via backwards compatibility. That being said, now we have reached an age where it seems like the gamer is being ostracized through these “HD Remakes.” The big wigs at the head of the game hardware companies have realized that they can make more money off of gamers by not including backwards compatibility, instead re-releasing old disc-based products.

Video Unlimited Preview Announced for PS3

Those looking for a Hulu clone on their Playstation 3 systems finally have reason to rejoice. Today on the Playstation Blog, a new application called Video Unlimited Preview was announced that promises to allow access to more than 40,000 movies and TV episodes from the past and present. One thing that they did not mention in the article is the price. PS+ members will be able to get a free preview period starting today (the 27th), but it is unknown if they will price it based on the show or film you are specifically watching, an overarching price for the application, or both.
