Arkham World teased at VGAs

Arkham City is barely a few months old, but Rocksteady has already teased the follow-up.  During Spike’s annual Video Game Awards, an obviously pre-recorded video of the Joker accepting his award for best voice acted character in a game for 2011 “accidentally” started off holding the wrong script, which happened to have the words “Arkham World” printed on them, to which he then joked about spoilers.

No other information is available at this time.

PSVita: Multiple Memory Cards Required for More Than One PSN Account

Gamers are pretty enraged at how Sony is dealing with potential piracy on the PSVita

Following up to their previous statement regarding PSN accounts being one per each device, Sony has now said this is not the case, but that if you do wish to use multiple accounts on the handheld, it will cost you.  Each PSN account you have will be bound to the first memory card you use it on and that card will then forever only be able to be used by that unique account, unless you return the card to its default factory state, erasing all the data you would have stored on it.  While this isn’t exactly the worst thing in the world and probably is a relatively good way to deal with potential piracy, legitimate customers are going to have to shell out a lot of money if they plan on using more than one account on a Vita.  Whether it’s something as simple as two friends or siblings wanting to share a Vita and thus using their own accounts when they log in or people who like to import where a foreign region account is required for certain titles they get overseas, it’s pretty clear this isn’t news people will be happy to find out.

I’m all for companies trying to tackle piracy as it is a big issue in the gaming industry, but I swear 99% of the time they seem to have no clue how to do it in such a way that the good customers, the ones who deserve all the trust and respect, aren’t being hit the hardest by business decisions such as these.

Rumor: Dead Rising 3 to Be Set in California and Stars a Mechanic

His name is Rick and he’s repaired cars, you know.

Word going around the net today is that the next iteration of Dead Rising is happening.  Set in the fictional local of Los Perdidos, California,Dead Rising 3 supposedly stars a car mechanic by the name of Rick who, like Frank West and Chuck Greene before him, must overcome and survive a zombie apocalypse any way he can.  The main goal this time around is to find the parts for and fix an airplane in order to escape the doomed town as it is set to be blown up Raccoon City style.

Further details (assuming this is all true) are sketchy, but another character by the name of Red is said to be significant to the game’s story, as he leads an underground group of illegal immigrants, with the games plot revolving around the issue as well.  It would be interesting if such a topic were handled maturely, but seeing as we’re talking about a Dead Rising game and Capcom, expect the usual stereotypes, bad one liners and cheesy dialogue we’ve come to love (and cringe at) over the years.

Rumors Abound Over the Status of Fumito Ueda’s Employment at Sony

While not yet official, recent rumors have been circulating that Fumito Ueda, the head of Team ICO (the team that brought you ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and the upcoming The Last Guardian), had some sort of falling out with Sony and has most likely left the company.  Following this news, people started wondering what impact this would have on the production of The Last Guardian, the main question being if it would be completed at all.  Well, it looks like us Team ICO fans have reason to rejoice, as Ueda himself recently updated his twitter stating that production is on. The Last Guardian would not stop, whether or not he was still contracted under Sony (which is still not 100% confirmed).

I guess the question that I have is if the rumors are true and Ueda has left Sony, what would he do next? If he made a separate studio and went multiplatform, that would certainly be devastating for Sony (as the Team ICO games are a big first party pull), but in the big picture, wouldn’t it be better if more people could experience the games that he makes?  Regardless of Ueda’s employment state at Sony, The Last Guardian is set to release sometime in 2012, and I could not be more excited for it.

Bioware Talks ME3 Gameplay Improvements

Bioware’s web video series Pulse has revealed some of the new changes made to Mass Effect’s gameplay in the third entry in the series, slated for March next year.

Things of note are the new unique abilities each class is getting. For example: my Shepard, being an Adept, will receive a new pull ability that makes shield carrying enemies easier to take down by making them drop the heavy armored shield they walk around with. Likewise, the more close range Vanguard class, which is known for the teleportation charge attack, will also receive an area effect damage ability that, while making you vulnerable by using your shield as its power source, will likely kill everything it hits.
