Counterstrike: Source Update

This is why PC gamers love Valve. A new extensive update has been announced for the now six year old game Counterstrike: Source. There will be 144 new Steam cloud achievements, a new domination and revenge system similar to Team Fortress 2, player statistics, and more according to the Steam news page. There will also be “a host of new features and functionality developed in collaboration with Hidden Path Studios”. The update is currently in beta, and server admins have already downloaded it, so in theory, you could join a Beta server. On the forums there has been talk of possible new weapons, but that isn’t a certainty. The update will be given out free for current Counterstrike: Source owners via Steam once the beta is complete.

Metro 2033 Review

Metro 2033 is like STALKER’s cousin, the hot one yes… yet far from perfect. It is an atmospheric adventure through the dark tomes of the Russian public as they descend into a world of madness caused by the nuclear holocaust on the surface above. This atmospheric thrill ride is extremely intriguing while it lasts, but there are a few glaring technical problems, story elements and odd engine errors that hamper the experience. This game isn’t crippled at all by the bugs, but the game experience of this STALKER-esque game can be ruined as the thin white line between the graphical prowess of 4A-games and underdeveloped gameplay are all a blur when you go into this game blind of what the happening of it all is. A heavy weight on systems who want to run this game on high settings, and a descent action game for those who seek to shoot though the cramped corridors of the Russian underground, this game really comes down to what you really are down for in a game… choose one way, story… graphics… or action.

Buy Civilization IV Right Now On Steam

Steam’s known for its ridiculous weekend and mid-week sales, and once again, I’ve succumbed to their tactics of making things not cost a lot of money. That makes… 151 games on my Steam account. Man, I haven’t even installed over half of these.

Supreme Commander 2 Review

Remember the first Supreme Commander? Remember how big and massive the game used to be—gargantuan battles that made a difference, air fights with fleets the size of Washington to Chicago, and maps that dwarfed any strategy game to date? Well, the sequel gets all that in spades… but what is the game missing that disappoints the average Supreme Commander fan?

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Post-Patch Update #1

Battlefield: Bad Company 2’s been my one and only online addiction, nearing 90 hours of playtime since I got the game at launch. For some, it’s a small number, especially with some nearing their 200th hour, but Bad Company 2 is the rare and well, only, online game that I’ve genuinely stuck to, learning its weapons, its maps and attaining a level of combat awareness that I’ve never developed for any other online shooter. As of writing, the PC version seems to have been given preferential treatment, with constant server updates and it is always the first to receive patches. Last week, a massive balance patch was deployed for all PC users and with that has come with the usual moaning and groaning of things being too overpowered or things being nerfed beyond comprehension. Some of it justified, some of it overblown, let’s break down the major changes.
