Shadow Harvest: Phantom Ops has a lot going for it. It combines old-school shooters with stealth gaming to put players in control of two operatives who try to take down bad guys in the year 2025. Because it’s set in the near future, it gives gamers access to sci-fi spy equipment, while also employing cover-based gunplay. However all of these great ideas don’t pan out due to numerous tech issues, and some bad design choices.
Tower defense games started out as a mod for Warcraft 3 and have since become a vast genre that is represented on almost all gaming platforms. From Plants Versus Zombies to Defence Grid, there are as many different kinds of tower defense games as there are car crashes in Smallville. Independent developers in particular are having a ball when it comes to this genre and the latest indie tower defense game to hit the digital shelves is Sanctum.
Buckle up nerds, because this weekend has a bunch of great deals on downloadable games for you. Good Old Games has a sale on bundles of Activision adventure games. The Kings Quest, Police Quest and Space Quest franchises are being bundled, and then cut by 30%. You can get these bundles which contain 2-4 games each for $6.99, or you can get all seven bundles (20 games) for $48.93. This is an amazing deal if you never played the classic adventure titles.
I know how you feel. I’m dying to get my mitts on the new Portal game just as much as anyone, but I can wait out the coming days until its release because I planned ahead and stocked on some methadone to control my cravings. And when I say methadone, I mean PC games that sorta remind me of the Portal series. To absolutely no one’s surprise, Capcom has announced yet another version of Super Street Fighter IV for PC and Consoles. The new one is called Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, although we probably won’t have to wait too long before it’s up to Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Championship Turbo Hyper-fighting.
There are some yummy deals online, but you’ll have to act fast, as most of these are only up for one day. Steam is in the third day of their 2K Week, and today only (Wednesday the 13th), you can getBorderlands and any of it’s DLC for 75% off. Even if you already have the game, this is still a great chance to get all of the DLC packs for just $2.49 each. Or you can get the Game of The Year Edition for $7.50, which has all of the DLC anyway.
