Shooters You Should Play Instead of Battlefield 3: Operation Flashpoint

With each year, games are getting easier and easier. Becoming far less realistic and catering to the scrubs of the gaming world. It’s not our fault that they can’t manage to get a simple headshot but is their fault that games like Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are becoming more like rollercoasters and less like the authentic military experiences that they are meant to be. This forces real gamers to look further and harder for real military games.

Nowadays, many who consider themselves hardcore FPS fans cut their teeth on games like Battlefield 1942 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Valve Announces More Portal 2 DLC Aimed at you Creative Types

Valve has announced their plans for a second Portal 2
DLC release.  This time Valve is working on a level editor that will
allow players to design and build their own test chambers.  Creators
will then be able to share their levels with other gamers.  The DLC will
also support the ability for players to provide feedback via reviews of
levels.

According to the press release provided by Joystiq, Valve stated the level editor will allow the design of both single player and co-operative maps and is intended to be very user friendly.  At this time, the DLC is confirmed for PC only, but it may later show up on the PS3 and 360.  Since the PS3 actually has Steam and the cross platform functionality, it seems to me a no brainer that this DLC pack will end up there, but that is only speculation at this time.

Shooters You Should Play Instead of Battlefield 3: Chronicles Of Riddick

Battlefield 3 is just days away, and hardcore console gamers are lining up in front of Best Buy to grab it at its midnight launch (While their more intelligent and attractive PC counterparts are staring at the Origin website waiting for the pre-load).  But is dropping sixty bucks on launch day the best use of your gaming dollars?  Instead of scrambling to be the first to play the hottest new FPS every month, you could spend that money on several classic shooters, or overlooked recent releases.  Over the next few days, Player Affinity will recommend some great shooters that provide more fun for the same price, and might be more to your tastes than Battlefield 3.

Probable End of Year Release for Torchlight 2

Speculation has run rampant about the sequel to budget ARPG Torchlight, Torchlight 2, created by developer Runic Games. Many have stated that Runic needs to pre-empt the Diablo 3 release if they want to see good initial sales of their own game. The following news may provide a good idea for the date.

Well, Runic has updated its FAQ section with new information with regard to a potential release. It states that Torchlight 2 will be available to gamers in either November or December of this year. This can be considered a de facto release date due to the hyperbolic statement Runic chose to add. They say the game will be released in this timeframe unless “someone on the team dies.”
