Video game journalism is having a bad week in terms of ethics. Days ago it was announced that G4 and IGN host Jessica Chobot was secretly in the cast ofMass Effect 3 even while she was reporting on the game. Last night Harold Goldberg the founder of the NY Video Game Critics Circle was presented with an award from his own organization for Best Video Game Book, beating out authors like Neal Stephenson and Jane McGonigal.
There are already a bunch of mods available for Skyrim, but Bethesda is about to release the official creation kit for their critically-acclaimed epic RPG. A new Developer Diary video hit the internet this morning which explains the basics of the system and how it is integrated with Steam.
It’s been 13 years since the release of Jagged Alliance 2 for PC, and if you were a big fan of the game, Jagged Alliance: Back in Action is a recreation of the popular sequel. JA puts you in control of a group of mercenaries with real-time action replacing the turn-based system of the original game. Death is permanent. If your mercenary dies, you will never be able to access the character or the equipment again unless you reload the mission.
We’re always up for more of the PC exclusive action RPG Magicka here at Player Affinity, so we’re happy to learn that the game is getting yet another DLC pack in the near future with The Other Side of the Coin.
It’s been a few years since we had a new installment in the tactical RPG series Jagged Alliance. Jagged Alliance 2 came out in 1999 with a trickle of expansions in the years following. But the franchise returns to PC’s in February with the aptly-named Jagged Alliance: Back in Action. This new game keeps the tactical squad-based gameplay of the older games, but drastically updates the graphics.
Last year’s awesome PC exclusive game The Witcher 2 has been slowly making its way to the Xbox 360. Along the way, the developers CD Projekt RED have been touting all the cool enhancements that are being stuffed into the console version. Well, PC gamers won’t be getting the shaft, rather we’ll be getting all of the new tweaks and content that the console crowd gets.
As we see the turning of a new year, we also see the renewal of our favorite conventions like Blizzcon, PAX, and E3. Among them is Bethesda’s Quake Con which will be held from 2-5 August at the Hilton Anatole, Texas.
