Payday: The Heist Announced and Shown at E3

Lots
of game announcements at E3 are drowned out by the bigger announcements
by companies like Microsoft and Sony, but I’m determined to make sure
that Payday: The Heist gets the attention it deserves. 
Payday: The Heist
is an upcoming multiplayer-focused shooter by developers Overkill
Software. The name might not sound familiar but the studio is actually
comprised of ex-GRIN employees (who developed the recent Bionic Commando games as well as the PC ports of the last two Ghost Recon games).

Jagged Alliance: Back in Action Gets Release Date

The recent tactical strategy game Frozen Synapse has had quite a bit of success amongst fans of tactical strategy, but those same fans now have something else to be excited about. A new Jagged Alliance game! Jagged Alliance: Back In Action is a “Contemporary remake of the latest game in the series” but the website also says that it’s a remake of the original so exactly which Jagged Alliance game its a remake of is a bit unclear at this point.

Prototype 2 Set to Surpass the Original

Prototype 2 was unveiled at last year’s VGA awards but E3 is the first time gamers got their chance to see the game in action. While the Prototype had you playing as Alex Mercer, the sequel sets him up as the game’s villain and you play as Sgt. James Heller, a new character who blames Mercer for the deaths of his wife and child, and is set to take him down.

13 Minutes with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

The pre-requisite Call Of Duty game for this year’s E3 is Modern Warfare 3, but it might as well just be calledCoD: The New One given the predictable release schedule for the series.  In fact, Activision should probably adopt the Madden naming system, and just go with Call of Duty 2011.  Regardless, CoD: More Of The Same still looks quite good, and with the E3 video below, you can take a peek at thirteen minutes of the single-player campaign.

Kingdoms of Alamur: Reckoning Gets An E3 Trailer

Kingdoms of Alamur: Reckoning is one of my most anticipated games of this year’s E3. The CEO of 38 Studios, Kurt Schilling came on stage and  and showed off a new gameplay trailer at the EA press conference.  For those who haven’t heard of 38 Studios and Reckoning before, It’s a fantasy action RPG where the story has been written by bestselling fantasy author R.A. Salvatore, while the art style has been developed by Todd McFarlane and the game has been designed by the lead designer of Oblivion and Morrowind.
