Age of Decadence November Update

Indie developers Iron Tower Studio, hard at work on their
upcoming RPG Age of Decadence, have posted a progress report for the month of
November on their official forums.  ITS’s
Vince not only describes how the beta testing process is moving along, but also
explores quest design in RPGs and how they’ve been implemented in AoD.

Among other things, the post explains how one of the goals
with AoD is to present quests or events to the player in a more organic
way.  Rather than being directly asked to
retrieve an item or tediously collect random raw ingredients or monster parts,
for instance, the player will instead encounter opportunities with meaningful
choices and branching outcomes.  A brief
conversation with a preacher may lead the player to takeover an entire
religion, while a seemingly innocuous ruined tower inhabited by squatters may
turn out to be much more.

Steam Forums Breached

On November 10th, Gabe Newell issued a statement
on the Steam Forums’ main page advising users that the forums had been defaced,
accounts compromised, and that databases with sensitive information had been
accessed.  A news alert was also issued
through the Steam client.  The breached
databases included user names, purchase histories, email addresses, passwords,
and credit card information.

Blizzard Conference Call Roundup

Recently, the CEO of Blizzard, Mike
Morhaime, had a conference call with investors (Activision-Blizzard’s
ticker
symbol is ATVI, if you want to check out the stock yourself) wherein he
discusses the current status of Blizzard projects, as well as addresses
some
growing concerns.

in subscribers since the release of the latest expansion, Cataclysm.

Activision Having Trouble Getting Modern Warfare 3 Players Registered To Play Online

Infamous Adventures Seeks Beta Testers

Indie developer Infamous Adventures seeks beta testers to track down bugs in their two upcoming releases, a remake of Space Quest II: Vohaul’s Revenge, and a re-mastering of their previous remake, King’s Quest III: To Heir is Human.  Their solicitation does emphasize that they need testers dedicated to questing out bugs and providing useful reports, as opposed to getting an early crack at playing these titles.

Mass Effect 3 Leaked

Somebody call Shepard because the Normandy may have sprung a leak.  News is breaking right now with screen shots from an unofficial Mass Effect 3 demo.  The demo contains placeholder textures and music, as well as features like Origin support and game modes: Action/Story/RPG.  Reportedly, the demo is lurking inside a closed preview for its upcoming revamp of the Dashboard for the Xbox 360.  Thanks to PlayMagUK for breaking the story.
