For the last six weeks there have non-stop deals at every digital distributor on the net, but this bonanza is about to come to its end, and cheap gamers only have a few hours left to stock up on cut rate entertainment before it’s back to paying sixty bucks a pop for new games.
Fallout Fans thought we were getting the last of New Vegas‘ DLC packs a couple of months ago when the Gunrunners’ Arsenal came out, but this week an un-official mod made by the game’s Project Director, J.E. Sawyer, was released. It’s not a patch or a DLC, but rather a mod that adds in some balances that suited Sawyer’s own tastes.
Pendulo Studios have made some very popular adventure games over the years. Among their hits are the Runaway games, and this year’s The Next BIG Thing. Now they’re taking a turn towards the serious side of the adventure genre with Yesterday.
Coinciding with the Winter Solstice, Atlus and Cyanide Studios have released a trailer for the latest video game adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s A Song Of Fire And Ice book series, A Game Of Thrones the RPG. This should not be confused with Cyanide’s other adaptation that came out earlier this year, AGame Of Thrones: Genesis, the strategy game.
Digital Distributor Direct 2 Drive has joined forces with Games-by-Mail rental service Gamefly forming what might be called the Netflix of gaming. Current Direct2Drive customers will have their accounts converted to Gamefly accounts, and customers of both services will have the accounts merged into one Gamefly account. A new Gamefly client has been released for PC and Mac customers and there are several free-to-play games already available for these platforms.
The Humble Bundle IV is already a great deal in that it gives you seven awesome indie games for whatever amount you want to pay, but it just got better because they are now adding in the five games from the third Humble Bundle, bringing to total to twelve great indie games.
After getting off to a good start yesterday, Steam charges ahead with the second day in their two-week long holiday sale. Every day between now and January 1st, they’re going to have a different selection of games marked down by ridiculous amounts. Epic has revealed their new IP: Fortnite. Details are scarce right now, but as seen in the short trailer, the game features a cartoony art style and looks to be a zombie survival game. According to Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski, players will be able to “explore, scavenge, build and survive.”
In a short interview with Mike Schramm [Joystiq], Bleszinski said the idea for the game was pitched internally. “I was a staunch supporter of the idea, because the game is just like a no-brainer — I was like, yes.” Although Lee Perry is the project lead for Fortnite, Bleszinski will be involved providing feedback as the game develops.
