Magicka Developers Announce “Project JFK”

Arrowhead Game Studios, the wacky folks behind the PC exclusive RPG Magicka are at work on a new game.  It was announced this week by the Publisher,Paradox Interactive, but the details won’t be fully unveiled until the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in March. We do, however know the title: “Project JKF“.

Skyrim Creation Kit and High-Rez Texture Pack Now Available Through Steam

If you ever doubted that the PC version of Skyrim was better than the Xbox 360, now’s the time to think again. Bethesda Softworks has finally released the official modding tools on Steam, which when downloaded will allow you to create your own quests, dungeons and more, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced modder. Steam has also released the official Workshop, meaning you can easily discover, rate, and download Skyrim mods created by other people, directly through the PC-only Steam.

Notch Ready To See A Tim Schafer Game Back In The Spotlight

Tim Schafer is a brilliant man, his games of the last few years prove it, Grim Fandango was a romp through an after-death 40’s noir setting, Psychonautswas a journey through a summer camp of psychics and their minds and Brutal Legend was an exploration of a world conjured from heavy metal dreams and ambitions. Notch, or Markus Persson, the man behind Minecraft is also a pretty crazy dude. Creating Minecraft and already being heralded as the greatest independent game developer of the generation, these two men have some pretty heavy pedigrees behind them.

New Gameplay Trailer for Jagged Alliance: Back in Action

It’s been a few years since we had a new installment in the tactical RPG series Jagged Alliance.  Jagged Alliance 2 came out in 1999 with a trickle of expansions in the years following.  But the franchise returns to PC’s in February with the aptly-named Jagged Alliance: Back in Action.  This new game keeps the tactical squad-based gameplay of the older games, but drastically updates the graphics.

PC Getting Xbox Version of The Witcher 2

Star Wars the Old Republic: A $200-Million Project

A lot of big numbers and stats have been thrown around by Bioware on the Star Wars: The Old Republic website, but one of the most surprising numbers was reported by the LA Times.  From the initial concept all the way through development, SWTOR cost almost $200 million US dollars to create. The amount of people involved in the games production, included almost 1,000 voice actors for over 4,000 in game characters as well as thousands of Bioware’s artists, designers, producers, story writers, and motion capture employees.
