PAX East Panels Announced

The Penny Arcade Expo East is less than a month away, and they’ve finally announced the schedule for the many panels that will be running during this weekend of nerdly pursuits.  There’s far too much stuff for any person to do over the course of the three-day geekfest, so take a good hard look at the lengthy list of events at the link below; you’ll need to think long and hard about whether you love Call of Duty more than you love Dungeons & Dragons because you can’t attend both panels at once!

New Screenshots For Sims Medieval

Granted, the Sims games haven’t been targeted at hardcore gamers, but the newest installment in the series might have a little more to offer us than previously thought.  At first glance, The SIms Medievallooks likes it would appeal most strongly to casual gamers who want to live out their fantasies of being a princess (And the exclusive Princess Throne Room that comes with the Collectors Edition does very little to stifle that impression), however it seems that this game will also offer us magic, and monsters in addition to the option of building a little pink castle where we can play with our unicorns.

City of heroes is still going strong after almost seven
years on the market.  In addition
to the game’s two expansion pack; City of Villains and Going Rogue, they also

THQ Store Having 75% Off Sale

Publisher THQ is having one huge sale on dozens of downloadable games.  Pretty much everything in their catalog is marked down by 75% right now, with no specific end date for the sale announced.  The only catch is that these are the downloadable versions of the  games, not retail copies.  But that’s a small price to ask in exchange for offering products like Metro 2033 for ten dollars, along with many other games for five dollars.

Duty Calls – The Call of Duty Parody

There’s definitely something to be said for the qualities of Call of Duty, both bad and good. Many have parodied it in one way or another, but EA just brought it to the commercial level, with the Bulletstorm marketing game called Duty Calls. Duty Calls is a small, downloadable and free game that lasts about 4 minutes. As you can guess by the title, the game is a spoof of Call of Duty, and military shooters in general.

Battlestar Galactica Free MMO Now In Open Beta

We mentioned a few times in the past, that there’s a Free-to-Play online game based on the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.  It was in closed beta the last time we checked in itht he game, so details were scarce.  However, as of today, everyone who is curious can log in and give the game a shot for free in the open beta test.  If you missed our preview, BSG: Online is a space combat game with a bit of MMO as well. Players can choose to join either the colonists (Humans), or the Cylons (A bunch of Frakkin’ Toasters), and battle it out in PVE, or PVP combat.  You’ll level, up, gain upgrades for your ship, and new skills for your pilot.

Darkspore Beta Accepting Applications

Did you enjoy the 2008 game Spore, but didn’t feel that it was dark enough?  If you did, you’ll be happy to hear about a new game called Darkspore, which is an online action RPG that is partially-based on Spore, but well… darker.  In the game, the evil mutation known as The Darkspore has been unleashed on the galaxy, and is causing no end of trouble.  It’s mutating the populations of entire worlds, and is out to dominate life on all planets!  You’ll battle the Darkspore and its minions by creating an arsenal of “Living weapons”.
