Resident Evil 6: Operation Revebution 3D

Another Resident Evil?  Okay, sure.  I suppose between next month’s Revelations on 3DS, Operation Raccoon City in March, the Milla Jovavich movie Retribution this Fall, and the animated Damnation, I suppose I can fit in another Resident Evil thing this year. In fact Capcom would have to be crazy to NOT put out Resident Evil 6 this year!

Dystopian Burlesque – Review

There are two things I like.  Naked women and Fallout.  I had been aware of the D20 Burlesque show for some time; they do monthly performances where attractive women strip out of nerdy outfits, and this month their theme was “Dystopia”, complete with a piece based on the post-apocalyptic dystopian game Fallout.  With my “Pip boy” grasped firmly, I attended the show over the weekend.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City – Preview

Repetition in videogame sequels is naughty. It can lead to boredom and has the potential to ruin aspiring titles and our wallets by displaying a clear disregard for innovation. While Resident Evil 4 completely reinvented the series, Resident Evil 5 seemed to be pretty much the same game with the exception of certain enemies who appear to have been injected with a vast quantity of class A’s rather than Las Plagas. This left many gamers questioning whether the series might turn into the monotonous drag of “Same game, different characters”.  So how have Capcom answered these worries? They’re pushing down the trigger on their recliner couches and putting their feet up, handing development of the next title to Slant Six Games. Operation Raccoon City is not Resident Evil 6, but rather a new installment in the series.

Far Cry 3 – Preview

When Crytek handed over the keys to Far Cry back in 2007, it was clear that Ubisoft Montreal were facing a tough challenge. Save for spiritual successorCrysis, the series had been long abandoned by the original creators, surviving only through its cult multiplayer following and exceptional reputation for visual design. Ubisoft inherited the impossible task of having to satisfy the series’ existing fanbase whilst simultaneously reaching for an unaware console market that was still high on Modern Warfare. Meanwhile, Crysis had launched to whirlwind success and was busy shredding home computers with its superlative CryEngine. By the time Far Cry 2 launched in October 2008, expectations were soaring. The pre-release material that had been trailed at UbiDays earlier that year had pushed anticipation to boiling point, with wild promises of unbridled sandbox gaming and unprecedented levels of real-world fidelity.

Charles’ Top Ten PC Games Of 2011

2011 has been a very well-paced year for gamers.  We started out with a couple of hits in January and ended with a major release less than a week before Christmas. My favorites this year include horror, comedy, epic RPG’s, downloadable arcade games, and even a DLC pack from a 2010 game that was so good it deserves just as much honor as the full games. Developers are making great games at a faster rate than anyone can play them all, but here are ten that I thoroughly enjoyed.
