The Sims 3 PS3 Review

In the past, The Sims games were split into two distinct categories. In the first category were the hit PC games, which sold millions of copies and changed the way that people looked at simulation games as a whole. Then there were the console spin-offs, which mostly played like lackluster knockoffs of the real thing. Sure, they were still decent games, but it often felt like EA had to sacrifice some of the depth and flexibility of the PC games for a more “console oriented” approach. This created a large divide between the games, one which EA has finally filled in with the release of The Sims 3 on consoles. This is the closest you’ll get to a pure Sims experience without booting up a computer.

The PAM-10: Best Road Trip Comedies

I thought the right thing to do would be to focus on the road-trip films that have tickled our funny bones over the years. It’s hard to talk about road trips and leave off Thelma & LouiseAlmost Famous and True Romance, but this post will celebrate the often ridiculous shenanigans that can happen when two or more people hit the road. The films might not always be great (or good, for that matter), but you’re sure to remember them.

Soundtracks are incredibly unappreciated throughout all games. Some soundtracks can be amazing, while some can be only mediocre. Here is a list of some of the more fantastic soundtracks the Xbox Team has ran into throughout the Xbox 360’s life span. Music/rhythm games are excluded.

Trailer Tracker: Blue Valentine, The Way Back and more

Continuing our slow decline of big-name trailers we first look at the clip for Sundance darling Blue Valentine starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. We then find The Way Back with Colin Farrell, Ed Harris and Jim Sturgess in the prison escape drama. Next is the low-budget remake of the equally low-budget 1970’s thriller And Soon the Darkness and finally, yet again due to a lack of new clips, we take a look at a pissed off Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the second clip for Faster.

Respawn: Cilve Barker’s Jericho

Clive Barker Jericho is a horror themed first person shooter—not much else to say about. There are some squad mechanics if that means anything to anyone… there is some gore, there is some more shooting… there is nothing of this game that I can justify in saying that it’s groundbreaking as this game is so mediocre… it almost seems a tad bit funny. From the famed Clive Barker, this game is a very mediocre game but it looks pretty and that’s all there is to it. The art design is impeccable, the story is interesting and disappointing, a rollercoaster ride really. The premise is very tasteful and promising—on paper, it looked rad and that’s something I took into account when I got a copy… but when I look back at such a time… the execution left a lot to be desired. Factors such as lazy level design, sub-par friendly AI, and absolutely atrocious ending of a storyline, such factors help bring this down to be one of the worse games that the Respawn feature ever had to revisit.

Mafia II (X360) Preview

This demo is awesome… Mafia II looks and plays awesomely, but the game ends abruptly like– How gross… there’s a spider defeating its mate through the act of eating and… oh come on! I’m Tristan Wong, back with another exciting look at another game that recently came out with a demo—I know, how exciting is that? So when I go through this look, I’ll only be talking about what I saw and what I played… nothing about story, etc.

Metro 2033 Review

Metro 2033 is like STALKER’s cousin, the hot one yes… yet far from perfect. It is an atmospheric adventure through the dark tomes of the Russian public as they descend into a world of madness caused by the nuclear holocaust on the surface above. This atmospheric thrill ride is extremely intriguing while it lasts, but there are a few glaring technical problems, story elements and odd engine errors that hamper the experience. This game isn’t crippled at all by the bugs, but the game experience of this STALKER-esque game can be ruined as the thin white line between the graphical prowess of 4A-games and underdeveloped gameplay are all a blur when you go into this game blind of what the happening of it all is. A heavy weight on systems who want to run this game on high settings, and a descent action game for those who seek to shoot though the cramped corridors of the Russian underground, this game really comes down to what you really are down for in a game… choose one way, story… graphics… or action.
