A new series is in production on the Starz network, and Omari Hardwick has been selected to play the lead character on the show. The series is titled Power and comes from CBS TV studios and executive producers Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Mark Canton, and Randall Emmett. Hardwick previously appeared in the series Dark Blue playing the character of Ty Curtis. He has also appeared in a number of films including The A Team and Kick-Ass, which were both released on 2010. The new series Power does not yet have a premiere date but it is set to have a eight episode season.
The show will tell the story of James St. Patrick, a wealthy New York City night club owner, who wants to build an empire and turn it into a Fortune 500 business. There just seems to be one problem getting in his way: he is living a double life as a drug kingpin in an elite New York drug network. He is also a married family man and his happiness is threatened along with his business as he is tempted to leave his criminal life in order to become the elite businessman that he always wanted to be. With 50 Cent as an executive producer, this series will be an interesting one to watch for in order to see how much he models the character after his own life; Hardwick grew up in New York, where he was involved with drugs, though he later became a rich, successful man. Hardwick also seems perfect for the role and has "all the tools needed to play such a complicated and complex character," according to Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik.
