House of Cards Actress Cast in Amy Sherman-Palladino Drama
While everyone and their mom is excited for the
Gilmore Girls reboot coming to Netflix,
Gilmore co-creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has been working on a new series for Amazon.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was recently given a pilot order from the streaming service and the show has just cast its leading lady. Rachel Brosnahan has snagged the role of Mrs. Maisel, according to
Deadline.
Brosnahan is best known for her work as Rachel Posner on
House of Cards, and has also appeared on
Manhattan,
The Blacklist and
Grey’s Anatomy. She was also recently cast in Woody Allen’s upcoming Amazon series,
Crisis in Six Scenes.
The show is set in the 1950s and follows Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a young Jewish wife who becomes one of the first female stand up comedians after her husband leaves her and their two children.
The pilot will be part of the next wave of pilots Amazon viewers can vote on to help determine what shows are sent on to become series. Amazon recently ordered four other pilots, including a supernatural thriller by Guillermo del Toro and a superhero comedy called
The Legend of Master Legend.
With the hype for the
Gilmore Girls reboot going strong,
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has a pretty good chance of getting a full season order.
