Netflix’s The Ranch Renewed for Season 2
Ashton’s Kutcher’s new show
The Ranch has been officially renewed for a second season on Netflix.
The first season has 10 episodes on the streaming service, with 10 more previously announced to be added this fall. The series centers on the son of a Colorado rancher (Kutcher) who returns home from a semi-pro football career to run the family business. The series also stars Danny Masterson (Kutcher's co-star on
That 70’s Show), Debra Winger, Sam Elliott, and Elisha Cuthbert (
Happy Endings).
Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, and Sam Elliott announced the renewal via Twitter on Friday. It was also revealed that the sophomore season will also consist of 20 episodes and will arrive on Netflix in 2017.
This news follows Netflix’s trend of renewing shows very early, especially compared to traditional networks. The first 10 episodes of the Ranch hit Netflix on April 1, which means this season season order came in less than a month after it became available. This also happened with
Fuller House and
Grace & Frankie, which were both renewed very quickly. It will be interesting to see if these fast paced renewals will pay off for Netflix.

The Ranch and judge for yourself if Netflix made the right call.
