Netflix Orders #Girlboss Series
Sophia Amoruso’s
#Girlboss is being adapted to a Netflix series, according to
Variety. Netflix is teaming up with Kay Cannon and Charlize Theron to turn Sophia Amoruso’s autobiography into a comedy series.
Cannon, who is a writer for the
Pitch Perfect franchise and was part of the writing room of
30 Rock, will serve as showrunner. She will be exec producing the series with Theron, Beth Kono, Laverne McKinnon, and Amoruso.
The series is inspired by the best-selling book,
#Girlboss, which tells of Amoruso’s journey to becoming the head of a multi-million dollar fashion empire through her Nasty Gal Vintage label by the age of 27. Many have been captivated by this success story, because Amoruso started out dumpster-diving and seeing vintage clothes on eBay. She has climbed the ladder of success in a very short amount of time.
This will be the second Netflix project in development for Theron and her Denver & Delilah production banner. They are also working on a crime drama called
Mind Hunter with David Fincher.
