January Jones will be Emma Frost in “First Class”

Apparently, there is no such thing as too many casting updates for director Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass) and X-Men: First Class. Coming of the casting buzz of Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) and Azazel (Jason Flemyng), Deadline now reports that psychic mutant Emma Frost, previously reported to be played by Alice Eve, will now be played by Mad Men alum January Jones.

“Battle: Los Angeles” takes on “Skyline”

There’s a pretty intense legal battle between studios over two films of the same color: Battle: Los Angeles and SkylineDeadline brings this story, but what’s the actual situation? Well, Colin and Greg Strause, who own the visual effects company Hydraulx Filmz, received millions to craft the visual effects for Sony Pictures’ “Battle.” However, these brothers were directing “Skyline,” which just happens to be another effects-driven alien film that will be released in theaters four months prior to “Battle.” This situation was brought to light when higher-ups at Sony saw the Universal Pictures trailer for “Skyline,” which shows an alien invasion of Los Angeles.

Trailer Tracker: Black Swan and The Next Three Days

So, summer’s coming to an end.  At least you still have Trailer Tracker, where we at Player Affinity prepare for hunting season and stalk the latest trailers hitting the web. Coming off his Oscar-nominated indie smash The Wrestler, Darren Aronofsky is back with the mind-bending ballet thriller Black Swan. We then move on to The Next Three Days starring Russell Crowe as a father on a mission, and shiver with Wes Craven’s latest slasher flick My Soul to Take. We wrap things up with the possible documentary, possible spoof, I’m Still Here, which is about actor Joaquin Phoenix’s transition from actor to rapper and finally visit the trailer for Love and Other Drugs with Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway. Rooney Mara is “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”

Well, it looks like we have our Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Actress Rooney Mara has been cast as the bisexual computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s adaptation of the famous book series. Casting decisions for the film have been made for the past several months, with the most recent one being Robin Wright as Daniel Craig’s love interest.
