Odd Lot Entertainment will produce a film based on Orson Scott Card’s classic dystopian fiction novel Ender’s Game. Just last year Card himself stated that the film might not be happening.

Black Widow could get her own film

Badass female heroes are few and far between in most modern comic films, one of the more recent (and better received) being Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and her kick-ass action sequences for Iron Man 2. Now, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has noted during a press conference for the DVD release of Iron Man 2 that Marvel is in the early stages of discussion regarding a Black Widow spinoff film, intending to have Johansson reprise her role.

With the arrival Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps on Friday, director Oliver Stone offers us another critique of the cutthroat world of finance, and the soul-selling that often goes along with it. It is with this in mind that I have compiled a list of the best movies that I believe most successfully comment on the events of our society, be it today or 50 years ago. Some of these films had to the power to prompt congressional action or be the catalyst for an important legal decision. Others are notable not necessarily for the social issues they contain, but for the social climate they were created in. For the purposes of this article, we shall broaden the definition of political/social issue films to include these additional attributes.

Sacha Baron Cohen to play Freddie Mercury

Karaoke fans of the world unite! Peter Morgan, writer of The Queen and The Last King of Scotland, is set to script an untitled biopic of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Now Deadline reports that Sacha Baron Cohen, of Borat fame, is set to star as the legendary rock singer.
