“Uncharted” casting: Who should play Nate Drake?

If the adaptation of “Drake’s Fortune” is to succeed under the temperamental direction of David O. Russell (The Fighter, I Heart Huckabees), it must have a stellar lead to play Nathan Drake. Casting such a role is a difficult balance of fitting the bill of the character and branding the project with a name large enough to attract viewers who are not familiar with the series or games in general.

What does Tony Scott want for “Top Gun 2”?

Director Tony Scott does not want Top Gun 2 to be a remake or reinvention. Rather, he wants the sequel to focus on what has happened to the fighter pilots since the Cold War-centric original film from the 1980s. Tom Cruise may or may not be returning for the film.

Like Hereafter? Try Unforgiven

Clint Eastwood’s new film Hereafter opened in theaters on Friday, and gave us a tale of ponder and wonderment at the possibilities that follow our mortal life. It’s not been his best received work, and some critics express worry that Clint Eastwood is going the way of Woody Allen – a once incredible director that now just churns out films nobody cares about. I disagree with this point of view. Actually, Eastwood is among those colleagues of his whose worst works still best 90 percent of the dreck unleashed upon us by Hollywood – the Coen Brothers, Spielberg, Scorsese. He seems to enjoy the darker and more ambiguous places of human existence: racism in Gran Torino, and ideas of afterlife and communication with the dead in Hereafter.

Hereafter Review

The eternal question of “what happens after we die?” is about as enigmatic as the kind of film Clint Eastwood’s latest, Hereafter, tries to be. Supernatural? Thriller? Relationship drama? The film will likely defy most audience expectations, so to be helpful, the answer is all of the above, but mostly “c.) relationship drama,” final answer.
