Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins “The Dark Knight Rises”

We don’t know who Gordon-Levitt will be playing, but Deadline is confident he’s negotiating to join the cast. Although the director is keeping Gordon-Levitt’s role under wraps right now, Warner Bros. might release that information in the coming weeks as they did recently with recent casting additions Tom Hardy (Bane) and Anne Hathaway (Selina Kyle).

Instead of “The Rite,” Go Back to “The Exorcist”

The Rite was obviously inspired by the selection this week, a must-view for anyone who enjoys movies. William Friedkin’s The Exorcist was not only 1973’s top-grossing film, but it was the top-grossing film of all time until Spielberg’s Jaws appeared. Audiences had really never seen anything like it before. People were fainting. Theaters were giving vomit bags to the patrons.

“The Rite” is all right with scary movie fans

The Rite clawed its way out of the depths and up to number one. Anothony Hopkin’s familiar tale of demon possession was enough for a few to enjoy. It scared $15.5 million out of American pockets, narrowly beating out holdover No Strings Attached. The Mechanic matched The Green Hornet with $11.5 million; good enough for third and fourth places.

Henry Cavill is the next Superman

Actor Henry Cavill is set to portray Clark Kent in director Zack Snyder’s upcoming reboot Superman: Man of Steel. According to The Wrap, Snyder expressed zeal over Cavill taking the role of Clark Kent: “In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen.  I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry.  He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”

Let’s be honest: Anthony Hopkins could read the phone book and people would buy a ticket to watch (I would). He’s a treasure to his profession and even in his most sub-par films, he’s never dull to watch. This is the case with his latest film, The Rite.
