Newly Announced “Tomb Raider” Reboot Set for Release in 2013

In 1996, the world was introduced to adventurer Lara Croft in the video game Tomb Raider. The game was a runaway hit and became a video game franchise. In 2001, Angelina Jolie carried a film based on the games – Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – to an impressive domestic take of over $100 million. The success of that film led to the sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life just two years later. However, that one made roughly half as much as its predecessor stateside. Now it looks like Hollywood has a revitalized interest in the archaeologist. GK Films has secured the film rights for Tomb Raider and looks to have a film out in 2013.

New “Blade Runner” Film In the Works

The original Blade Runner remains one of the most influential films in the last 20 years.. The idea of remaking it would likely send a shockwave through the film community that may end up like the bloody mutiny described in the backstory of the original film. Now, while a remake is not happening, Alcon Entertainment has released a press release stating that either a sequel or a prequel to the original film’s events is currently in the works.

Shane Black Talks “Iron Man 3” Script

Marvel Studios took the movie world by surprise upon hiring writer/director Shane Black to helm Iron Man 3. Jon Favreau, who directed the first two films in the franchise, stepped down from his directorial duties to work on Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Rango Wrangles Big Bucks



Johnny Depp brings in the coin no matter if it is with his trademark wacky performances or his recognizable voice. It was the latter that landed Rango in the number one spot at the box office. The awkward chameleon was a hit with families earning $38 million. The Adjustment Bureau benefitted from strong critical reception and likeable stars in Emily Blunt and Matt Damon. The sci-fi romance about mysterious men with hats earned a respectable $20 million.

Only Part of “G.I. Joe” Cast Returning for Sequel


The “G.I. Joe” universe has experienced its fair share of change lately. We earlier learned that director Stephen Sommers wouldn’t be returning to helm the sequel (rejoice!), but later found out that Justin Bieber: Never Say Never director Jon Chu will be filling his spot. 

Now we’re learning that only three of the principle characters from the first film – Duke, Storm Shadow, and Snake Eyes – will be returning, thanks to a tweet from Rachel Nichols
